Grandmother in North Carolina received call about grandchild in jail for DUI saying to wire $4.5 was needed for release.  Grandchild was really safe at home.  Number calling was (604) 318-2081

This just happen to our relative...sadly though he did just as they instructed him as described in post below. And they had the nerve to call back the next day requesting more! Evil people preying on elderly and their emotions.. So please warn others so this doesn't happen to them.

My parents just got this number given to them by the supposed lawyer for their supposed grandson who had just been arrested for DUI after hitting another car.  These perps wanted $4500 and when my Dad said no, they asked for $2000.  He said - I do not care if you want me to or not, I am calling my son.  They gave him the # (604) 318-2081 so he could give it to me that I might call them back.  I did not call the number as I did not want MY number to get picked up by the preps caller ID.  My wife works for Adult Protective Services and sees this all the time.  Look out - it can happen to anyone...  thanks for this website, it does help.

They just did this to mybfs  grandma!

My grandmother received a call from this number saying he was an attorney and my cousin was in jail and needed $4k to get out.  Wanted her to purchase and send a specific type of debit cards in $500 increments and they would release my cousin as he was barely over the legal limit for DUI.  Luckily, my grandmother doesn't have that kind of money and phoned me. I knew it was a scam, but to appease her, I searched the number the "attorney" gave as his office and found that he is in British Columbia Canada, not Chico, California.  I also checked the inmate list for the county jail my cousin lives in.  He was not on the list.  SCAMMERS!!  Beware of your elderly relatives $$!!  These people are EVIL!!  

My mom just received a call with the same information.  Grandson in accident DUI needed $4k.  Thankfully she called me (retired police officer).  I told her it was a scam.  They used the (604) 318-2081 number.  I called it and got a message saying it was a law firm no one answered.  Southern IL.
