How I Beat or at Least Tamed the Worst Telemarketer EverFirst off I?d like to say that I have a personal policy that I am never mean to Telemarketers even though I do not agree with their profession or the ethics behind it; typically a polite I?m not interested followed by hanging up the phone is suffice. I am on the do not call registry and I will use that if needed to scare them off. At times I allow them to do their 30 second speech because let?s face it, they may be a kid and this might be their first job and even if the job sucks they need to learn a little confidence. Anyway, all these rules went out the door recently when one telemarketing company went too far and a good offence became the best defense.This particular company (Canadian Online Pharmacy) sells a product I am not interested in that promises to enlarge certain body parts. They have been calling a few times a month ever since I got this phone number with calls becoming more frequent. I have all of their programed numbers in my phone so most of the time when I see their name pop up I just ignore them. They are typically rude when I answer and tell them not to call again, but never anything too out or line. Recently I answered the phone to what sounded like a drunken East Indian. He called at a bad time when I was expecting other critical calls. I told him I could report him to the CRTC and he/the company could be fined. He started threatening to call over and over until I bought something which he did all night calling over 30 times, leaving three obscene voicemails threatening to rape my wife and children. After this the calls became daily; sometimes 5 to 10 times a day. I did all the typical stuff like requesting a supervisor, hanging up, ignoring and all it did was continue. This was what I now considered an act of war. While the company uses Skype to mask their number to appear to be a Canadian number, they are actually located in Mumbai Indian as my investigation concluded. Our local Police informed me that this company is well known for harassing the public in this way often being quite vulger. I looked into the possibility of using the Mumbai Police, but the odds that this would work without a payoff were not high. So I tried something else. I called them over and over from multiple lines (IP/Private mostly) at the same time. Doing this I figured out that at any given time they have no more than 10 people in the call center that are making these calls. I did some relatively hard to handle things to them. They are as follows.?    Make fake orders for thousands of pills using ridiculous names like ?Ivana Bonner? or ?d*ck Pound? and when the credit card company declined and they realized that they were the butt of a joke, they would erupt in anger.?    I?d tell them I?m outside and I will wait for them to finish work so that we can have this conversation in person which worked well when I said to them that I know where in Mumbai they are. I?d go as far as playing Mumbai streets sounds so that it sounded like I was actually out there. (they will claim to be in other countries until they realize you?ve investigated them and actually know where they are) Or I would say that I have a contact there and I?m sending money to bribe a Police officer to shut down their business.?    I?d tell them I sent a package and it should be there by now. I?d ask them to check for the ticking package and open right away on the phone with me. I told them not to worry as it was just a Timex watch. I told the same story only with flower as the enclosed item. I?d suggest they share this flower with all their friends and I guaranteed that it was harmless.?    I asked them to stay on the line and I stalled them, I told them it takes at least 5 minutes to me to upload the virus to their Skype system. This made them very nervous.?    I used Prank Calls Sound boards from the internet including such characters as Batman, Michael Jackson and Stewie Griffin. To be honest this was more fun than you can imagine as they fell for it over and over with hilarious results.?    But my favorite was repeatedly connecting two of them or more to each other in conference so that they were trying to sell to the co-worker who at times was sitting right next to them. They thinking some prospective customer was just being a jerk would start to swear at each other something like this. ?You pucking arshole, I?m going to pucking kill you? ?Your Father drives a cab and your Mother is a prostitute.? To be quite frank their insults to each other were far better than any I could have ever thought of. They were also very class driver like their society and racially dirty. When they would finally realize that they were speaking to another sales person they would become more enraged and often start screaming in the office which again could be heard on multiple lines. My aggravation had become their aggravations and now I was laughing in the background.The results of my experiment were pleasing. I did this until they shut their phone system off. Before they shut it off they threatened to call the Police or block my number, but I knew that given the circumstances there was nothing they could do. They begged me to stop because I was interfering with their work and causing fights within their office; I was costing them money. I agreed, but on one condition? REMOVE MY NUMBER FROM THE SYSTEM AND NEVER CALL ME AGAIN. No calls since then, permanent?
