Got a call from (519) 800-1046 and I didn't recognize the number .I let it ring through to voicemail but they hung up before that. I tried to dial the number but it rang busy. Then I tried reverse phone to see who called.I came to this page and learned it was a scam call. I'm glad I didn't answer it.

I received a call from this number today. (519) 800-1046. Fellow had an accent. Delay after I said hello suggested an autodialler so I was expecting a telemarketer. He said he was calling from visa credit services and since I had such good payment history and always made my payments on time he could offer me a lifetime lower interest rate. He then asked me to comfirm my address, which he had, though with a slightly incorrect postal code.  I corrected him, but he didn't seem interested.  He then said for customer verification purposes and to ensure I was the cardholder he asked me to provide the expiry date on my card. I told him I wasn't willing to provide that. I always pay my balance in full so if not providing the expiry date meant that I didn't get the lower rate that was fine. He tried to reassure me that it was just for customer verification purposes. I said I didn't know if he was really calling from Visa, and if he wasn't,  and he somehow had my card number, he could charge my card, so no I would not provide my expiry date and he hung up. I called Visa to report it. They said they are aware of this and if I has provided the expiry date, I then would have been asked to verify the last 8 digits of my card number. Apparently the first 8 digits are public information. Then they would have charged me about $800. She confirmed that there had not been any attempts on my card. She also said they are trying to do something about this, but apparently what these guys are doing isn't considered illegal. Which is outrageous!

This number called me out of the blue, claimed to be Visa credit card services. Said I was eligable for a reduction in rates. I said thank you very much, I will be expecting that. And hung up on him. I better get a reduction in rates or visa will be hearing about it, seeing as the candain government cant seem to stop telephone solicitors from trying to defraud taxpayers... I blame the phone companies for trying to get a few extra dollars by allowing these fraudulent customers to telephone solicit thier back bone good customers. I do NOT believe, for a moment, that the phone companies, the governments or the police actively do thier damn jobs and stop the harrasment. Do not call list, my [***], survey companies use this list and so do registered charities. Illegal solicitors dont seem to use the list eitherway, so whats the point unless the telephone companies start auto blocking these callers and even thier area or country codes untill the corresponding teleco does the same!!!Im fed up with the [***].. I dont pay for a phone for idiots to harass me... the gov needs to legislate and then enforce the telecos with policing and fines untill the tele co decides the extra few dollars from the marketers is not worth it.  So call the telecos and your MLA's, the news stations.. lets stop this crap.Of course I would fully support the implimentation of an "Opt in" system ... as if...

Got a call yesterday, Jan 29, 2015 from a heavily accented man said his name was Jason. LOL. Said he was calling about my VISA credit card..I don't have a VISA I said and he corrected me by saying I didn't say VISA I said Master Card. Then fished around for my info telling me he was going to give me 6% lifetime interest rate and needed to verify my info. I told him I don't give that over the phone and he said he was from BMO and he would give me MY lastest payment info, date, amount paid, amount owing to prove it was them. He just needed to verify my info first....exp date on card, and the catcher was my last 8 digits!! LOL no chance in hell buddy. I told him I didn't know the numbers..oh I can wait while you go get your card mam! Yeah...told him I wasn't at home and he laughed, oh, ok, I'll call you back later then. I said go ahead you'll get the same answer. I only went this far into the convo cause I was home and bored!

This is a visa scamming number. I had fun with them and played stupid. After about ten minutes on the phone with them they finally got tired and hung up. Never ever give your expiry date and verification code to someone you have not contacted.
