Got a call this morning from a guy trying to raise money for children's leukemia. I said I give to United Way, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. People have got to beware of this kind of call -- when a real charity calls, they are respectful and take no for an answer. Plus, it's never from a large call centre; I could hear a whole bunch of people in the background!

I would like to know who called me from this phone number (519) 488-0402 (Ontario) this PM at approximately 1:52?

Called me again today and being a Mom of two small children i didn't get to the phone in time. It only rang twice. I called the number back, which is long distance for me and got a voice recording, no option to be removed from their list. When they call again, because I'm sure they will. I will answer and if someone happens to be on the other end...I will make sure they do not call me again. I doubt they'll pay for my long distance charges to call them back.

On January 22, 2010 I recieved a phone call from (519) 488-0402. They told me an extremly sad story about a child with leukemia. They asked me to pledge money. I could not afford to give the amount they were asking for (in the hundreds). She said that I could make a payment of $50. I said I could not afford that right now. She said you could make a payment of $25. I said, that I would make the pledge of $25. She put me through to someone else to make the payment. The man had my full name already. He asked me to confirm my name, and asked me if I would be paying by visa or Mastercard. I told him, I was not giving him my credit card number. He told me it was safe to give him my credit card number and that it is only dangerous to give out the 3 didgets on the back of my card. I repeated that I was not going to be giving him my credit card number. He said that he would mail out a pledge form so that I could send in a money order. he already knew my address. I confirmed it was right and said good bye.  Something didn't seem quite right! I dialed *69 and the number they had called from was 519-488-0402. I googled the number and sure enough found this info. I called the number back and it was a recording giving another number. I called the 1-800 number they gave, waited on hold and finally got through to someone. I said that I would like to pledge money, and I wanted to know what percentage of my money goes to the charity. The girl did not know the answer, she asked me if I minded waiting one moment. It took more then 5 minutes, but when she came back she told me that 10-40% goes to the charity. I wanted to be sure, so I asked, Only 10-40 percent goes to the charity? She replied yes, and I said I would not be pledging any money and hung up.This just seems so wrong to me.Jenn

I got a call from this phone number. ?It only came up as a long distance number on my caller ID, but I used *69 to retrieve this phone number.  Glad I never answered it.
