Got a call this morning from a guy trying to raise money for children's leukemia. I said I give to United Way, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. People have got to beware of this kind of call -- when a real charity calls, they are respectful and take no for an answer. Plus, it's never from a large call centre; I could hear a whole bunch of people in the background!

Got a call today from this number, same result as above... no one on the line, I just hung up.

Calls me too. Jim, Chris and others above seem to think that being on the Do Not Call list will stop these callers. Au contraire. The CTRC makes the entire contents of the Do Not Call list available to telemarketers (so they know what numbers they are not supposed to dial). But there is NOTHING to stop sleazebag telemarketers from using the DNC list as as source of numbers to call.

Re (519) 488-0402 and others, I DO NOT answer un-identified numbers or numbers I do not recognize. I feel that if it's a friend or if the call is impartant they will leave a message. Re the DO-NOT-CALL list - not all callers abide by the rules.

I just got a call from that guy but when I answered .. it was a voice message that was cut off after three words .. I did the *69 thing and bit the extra charge just to find out who was calling.  Too bad we couldn't complain and have this guys phone removed.
