Same story -- Call from (514) 365-3558 -- My Mom got a call claiming my nephew (her grandson) was in jail in New Orleans for drunk driving. He allegedly hit a car owned by a Panamanian who would accept $2900 to cover damage and not to press charges. The caller identified himself as Mike Jefferson and he claimed to be an officer of the court. She couldn't call him back, but said he would call her with instructions on how to send $2,900 by Western Union. A person impersontaing my nephew got on the phone and briefly talked to my Mom and she even commented that he didn't sound like himself. Fortunately, my Mom called me and we Googled the # to discover the scam.

Received a call from what appeared to be my granson reporting he got in an accident in NYC.  he placed a  purported attorney on the phone  by the name of Joe Balfour.telling me he was responsible for damages and he  was being held  in custody until $2675 was wired to a Christian Sanz Gomez of Guradalalhara. Jahico Mexico. We looked up he number (514) 365-3558 and found out it was a scam.We were able to stoip the transfer.

A victim in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada was contacted by a 'grandson' that had been in an accident in Gatineau, Quebec. When the victim commented that his 'grandson's' voice sounded different, he claimed that he had a broken nose from the airbag. Then his lawyer Richard STIENBERG got on the phone and told him to send the money via Moneygram. The victim did, and the next day when the 'grandson' called back asking for money to buy an airline ticket home, the victim asked him for his mother's maiden name. The fraudster hung up, but not before the victim lost $1051.00

Person called my wife saying our granddaughter was in jail for drunken driving in Quebec. Person identified himself as an attorney by the name of Stanley Poirer and suggested we would have to wire money in order to get our granddaughter out of jail.

Fraudster called my mother and robbed her of her life saving during my vacation. All we have to show for it is a half dozen receipts from western union company. My mother called local NY police after the 7 transaction because the police officer really scared the bejesus out of mother. My mother is a very intelligent woman. They knew the exact hotel i was staying at in Managua, a physical description of me and knew the Mennonite jewish conference i attended. Unlike d*ck Beaupre I wasnt able to stop the transactions to Managua, they were all cashed in and my mothers loss is in the upper 50 thousand. What a sad thing to do to my mother. I feel responsible for this disgusting act because she was trying to save my life.

Person called, said his name was Ryan Grant. ?Wanted me to send western Union money for my granddaughter.  I asked the "grandaughter for her brother's name and she hung up. I had ordered the money from western union, but thankfully I was in time to cancel it
