Noel Daley & Associates

Got suspicious when I received a letter from them this week with respect to my o/s CIBC Visa account that is with CollectCorp.  CollectCorp are pain in the a**es and apparently don't like the amount of payment I've been making each month (I've been out of work 2 years, on assistance for 1 year of those 2 and currently have a pending app with ODSP - my income right now is very limited that paying for groceries after bills are paid are difficult for us).  The envelope, the paper, everything about this letter, including the wording was suspicious.  Pulled up website for them (one page only) - info on letter (no official letterhead, no stamp, nothing like you'd see on lawyers who are able to practice in this province) re: address, phone number, email address doesn't match up with this website for them.  Checked law society and there is a paralegal registered with almost same name as the one on the letterhead but address doesn't match up or anything. As for Noel Daley, there is one with part of the same name, and also info doesn't match up (address/phone number).  So ran a WHOIS search of the website domain for Noel Daley and Associates and guess who it belongs to?  COLLECTCORP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Must be their supposed in-house "lawyer" and "paralegal".  I'm not buying into it.  In previous paperwork to CollectCorp I provided proof of my income source and my expenses so they know damn well that I don't have any assets, property, etc. to pay the balance in full or even more than I have been paying them per month --- bad enough this month of Christmas there is no buying presents for my child as I don't have any money to do so, I'm in overdraft on my bank account already (and all bills aren't paid yet for December) because of unexpected November expenses, and I'm trying to figure out how to get groceries for the month with no money.  BTW, I have another debt that is 4 times more than the amount of this CIBC one and they are not harrassing me at all, have accepted the amount I'm paying them per month (which is the same amount I offered to CIBC).  I can tell you if I ever got lucky and won the lottery (or one of my relatives) CIBC will NEVER be a part of that windfall! The debt would be paid, but no further business would ever be given to CIBC!

I managed to meet my debt obligations through the time I was collecting employment insuurance but when that ran out and I still hadn't found work, once on assistance there was just no way to meet even the montly minimum.  Seems when the economy tanks and people are hurting, the more aggressive they get -- but you can't get blood from stone!

Been There

It's a collections agency.  Collections agencies purposely setup multiple numbers - some toll-free, some local, and others blocked - to trick you into picking up from one of them.  Any time it says "an important business matter" or anything remotely close to that, it's 99.9% of the time, collections.  If you're getting calls like this, especially at seemingly random times of the day (sometimes quite early, and quite late, and sporadically throughout the week), something with your name and number on it has been sent to a collections agency for "recovery".

Best advice - if you're unable to pay off your outstanding balances (likely the case, otherwise it wouldn't be in collections!), just do your best to ignore/avoid the calls, and do what you can to make your financial situation better.  There is NO point telling them your sob-story because every single person who has ever been chased has one too, and it's not their job to care.  Their job is to collect, and they will only encourage conversation and details with the intent to find a way to get you to pay.

I've actually worked in collections in the past… I'm telling you, focus on bettering your situation, not on their harassment.. cuz they will not stop until you are either "written off", or until you pay.

Idiots keep calling with this number, and even a 888 number..  i listen to the phone message.. always some recorded message saying its the manager or something..  Well i have not talked to them, and judging by what i've read on here. I don't think i'll ever bother.  I'll just wait until collect corp gives up, sells it to a nicer collections agency, settles with a much smaller amount.. and be done with it.  I know i have an R9 already...  it doesn't matter if i pay now, or pay later  still takes 7 years to drop off your credit history...

No debt household

This phone number has called numerous times, asking for my husband and mispronouncing his name.  I have stated that I am able to handle the call and they proceed to ignore me and to continue to ask to speak to him about a private matter. After reading other comments on here, I see that they could possibly be a debt collection agency; however, we do not have any debt. From reading these other posts, they definitely sound like a fishy company. I tried calling the phone number back and received a voice mail box.  I am on the 'do not call list,' but I guess that doesn't stop this company. I finally told the rude guy to get my 'f*** number off of his call list!" I'll also try having this number blocked by my phone company.
