Optima communications is a marketing firm hired by Scotia to market insurance products such as AD&D, etc. Unsolicited email marketing is not allowed under new legislation so they use marketing firms by phone. Not a scam, simply clean conventional marketing. People who think this is a scam must live under a rock or behind/inside a dumpster. You need to get out MORE!

It said that was from Scotiabank, trying to sell health insurance...to good to be true, or to stupid to believe that. Don't give personal information it is obviously a scam

called me twice this week..but it connect to philipines...cheap labour.

Just noticing a trend here too. They seem to only call during the month of July, as indicated by all the posts.

I have had calls from Optima/Scotiabank before, so it doesn't surprise me that this would be them, but this was weird. Had (416) 640-0651 call me just now, I don't usually answer numbers I don't recognize. Declined their call, they left a message. When I checked the message, it's about 10 seconds of heavy breathing as though they had been running, and the background noise did indicate that they were outside. Then they hung up. Strange.

17/7/14 call @ 1247 mtn. No message left and ID says u/k caller. If this is ScotiaLife or their minions, a hang up with no i/d is a BAD IDEA in getting any positive response.

I am in Toronto and just received a call from this phone #.  The call is from OPTIMA who is calling on behalf of Scotia Life Insurance offering Accidental Death Insurance.  Just tell them to put you on their DNCL or Do Not Call List.
