I got a call from this munber +4163641115 this morning and the person claimed he was calling from London. Please help me to know why such numbers appears.Paul

Just got a call at me home from (416) 364-1115, it was an East Indian telemarketer claiming to be working for the US Treasury Dept. She had my name, address, phone number; pretty much everything you could get off of Google. Said that my name was selected to receive a grant of $7000.00 to be used to pay bills or start a small business. I was selected because I paid my taxes and haven't filed bankrupsy. I just let the woman talk because I was pretty sure this was a scam but wanted to confirm. I don't thing the U.S.DoT uses Indian telemarketers to dispense grant monies. She told me that if I wanted to have the money immediately I could give my account info and it would be wire transferred. Or if I wanted a check I would have to call another number and give a verification code. That number was 202-559-1834, the code was NK124. This scam, at best, gets the mark to pay $250.00 +- "to cover the transfer cost and insurance on the funds". At worst they get your account and empty it. This scam has been around for a while; at least since 2006. Beware folks.

Have gotten 3 strange calls today and it's not even 10:00 am est!  All come up on here as scams.I blocked them all.
