Received a call from this # this morning. No Caller Id was on the display only the number. When I answered the women on the line asked if she was talking to "and she referenced the name on a bank account". I asked who she was and why she was calling she said she was doing a survey for the RBC. Told her never to call again and hung up. Contacted RBC to report and they indicated that there should be no survey calls on their behalf unless its to follow-up on something related to the account. Just a heads up this is probably a scam how they got the account name (it's very unique) is beyond me.

I too received a call from this number (416) 233-0047. The person was just breathing through the phone which sounded very scary and I said “hello!” two times and I hang up. I went online to reverse the number to see who it is; I see that a lot of other people also have received strange phone call from this number.

The best thing to do is to call the police and report his/her sorry ass. Which I did, I wrote an email and report it through phone. If everyone here to do what I did, I am sure he will put back in jail where he belongs.

I'd researched this number online to see if was a telemarketing call....Glad I did!They keep calling my cell phone. And they never leave a message when I don't answer.

It is from Market Probe.

Got a call from (416) 233-0047. I couldn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I called back 20 seconds later and no one answers....

This IS a legitimate number from a Market Research company.  If you do not want to be contacted by them in the future, you need to ANSWER THE PHONE and ask them nicely to add you to their internal Do Not Call list.  You can't blame them for doing their job (aka repeatedly trying to give you an opportunity to have your voice heard). Be kind to market researchers - they're not trying to harass you, but they do want to give you an opportunity to have your say.

That same number called me last night, and asked for my first name only (which was odd). I didn't recognize the number or voice (it was a girl) so I said she had the wrong number, and she hung up. No other calls from them so far ...But this does sound like a scam. I've been looking it up, and apparantely, they're doing a 'survey for RBC', yet RBC doesn't work with them.

As has been suggested previously this appears to be a call from survey firm Market Probe.  I called (416) 233-1555 and asked to be put on the "do not call list".  The guy at the other end was very courteous and prompt.  I still hate call centre operations, but as they go I don't think this one is anything to worry about.  For those who have received calls from this number that sound really scammy - and there are apparently a few described in these posts - remember that any boiler room phone scammer can spoof just about any caller ID.  Faking the ID of a legit market survey firm is a logical thing for a scammer to do.

Weird call. ?Sounds like the person is saying, Are you my ni&&a? on voice mail.  Will definitely not pick up when this number is displayed.
