Just received a call from (403) 770 - 0543. The caller, who sounded Canadian, said he was calling from the Canadian Police Assiciation and was solliciting donations for a police program called "Safe Kids". I told him I need a written request, by mail, in order for me to consider donating, and that I make all my donations once a year in November (& I do so by Cheque). I offered him my mailing address but he was very agrressive and wanted me to commit myself to a donation of $20,00 or more before he would agree to spend money on postage. I ended the conversation with a comment implying that I suspect his call to be a scam.
As I write this I think back to my 7 years as a Citizen On Patrol member and I never heard of the Police soliciting funds for any organization.

I received a call today from the above number.It was from a man with a strong african accent going by the name of James.He claimed to be asking for donations on behalf of the Canadian Police Association.  He said that the money would be going to support officers going to local schools to warn students about sexual assaults/rapes.  He asked for $75 for 3 children and (I believe) $50 for 2 children or anything I could contribute.It sounded funny that the police would be asking for funding for such a thing?I hung up and did not contribute.I found a site that had others with similar problems. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-(403) 770-0543#pRWUPF06gQwA3IgjL5Q2WYg

I have got a call from (403) 770-0543 the guy said he is  from Police Association, they are raising fund  to protect child  and youth ... I said  I can't afford then  he push me to gave at list $25 and a credit card. I refuse to give a credit card on phone but promised to send a check. I am a new immigrant, the place I came from we fear a Police,  Even if I am a good Citizen  I think I scared the word Police and promised to send a check.

I just received a call from these guys I told them I was constable David Petters and was with the Red Deer RCMP they asked me for a 3000 dollar donation I said I didn't have that kind of money than they got rude so I told them I was going to trace the number and start a investigation on them than they started being polite and hung up on me lol I'm glad I googled this number the first time they called so I could mess with them lol.

I received a call from this number... Same thing told by everyone... said they were from CPA Cops for Kids, what their program was about, and would I make a donation.  I told him that I do not make donations over the phone, and to send me information about their charity & I'd be happy to look it over & decide with my husband if this will be one of the charities that we make our yearly donations to.  He said no problem, he'll send me the info with my invoice.  RED ALERT!  I knew it.  I said, I am not making a donation yet, to send me the info.  He told me they do not send info without a $$ commitment, and I told him that until I confirm they are legit, I will not make a donation.  Guess what?  He says you can look us up on-line & you will see we are legit, and will call back in 2 weeks.  So I Google "CPA Cops for Kids fundraising", and a find a slough of articles from CPA Cops for Kids none the less, about cold calling telemarking scammers.  Then I Google the ph # & find this forum!  I have warned all my fb friends & posted this #... but what more can we do to file complaint?
