I had a rather strange offer made to me today by phone at approximately 1:18 pm today. The number on the phone screen was (403) 410-2058 / Shabaz. He said he worked for Visa ?and Master Card Rewards program. And because I have been using my card a lot they had chosen me for a prize. The prize was for 5 days 4 nights all inclusive 5 star hotel at Kissimmee Continental Florida plus tickets to Disney World, plus 3 day 2 nights at Daytona Beach Ocean front hotel plus 3 days 2 nights at Fort Lauderdale Florida Resort including a $1000.00 dollar gift certificate, a total of $6,500.00 value. The offer was to be open for one year. He knew my address but had the zip code wrong. As the conversation progressed he said the only cost would be the taxes and then proceeded to ask to verify my card number. I gave him a phony card number and name on the card. At this point he said I will switch you to another person to verify the information. At this point I said I was not interested in going further closed the conversation.Is this a familiar call ? Is there any danger in this conversation I had? What should I watch for?I tried to call back the number on my screen and it said number no longer in use.

Got a call today from this number, December 17 11:30 am. Strange sounding guy said "I am from the G.E Company........General Electric"
At that point I laughed and hung up.

I just have got a call from the number. The woman with a tough accent asked me about air quality in my region. I started answering, but after a few questions she strarted to ask me personal financial questions like: "Do you own the place you currently live?","How long do you live there?" "Do you prefer to pay with credit card or debit or cash?". I had to interrupt her.
When I called back, I was told: "We are sorry, the call can't be completed as dialed"
I think this is a scam. BEWARE!

Never answer a call if you don't recognize the number, once someone answers a call like this you will be on a list for others to call you. I just got the same call you did and didn't answer it. My phone said it was from Unavailable with the number. If anyone really needs to get in contact with you, they will leave you a message. Do Not Answer numbers you don't know!!

Have some fun with them.  Ask them to wait, put the phone down (next to the radio is good as they can listen to it) and get on with your life.  It may taken them a while to realise you are not going to return to them by which time they should have racked up a nice phone bill.

I just got a call from this number and it also said (unavailable). I like to screen my calls and I will only answer calls that  I know and that have caller ID. Otherwise they can leave a message and a number for me to call back.
