Somebody called me from (250) 980-3438 on Feb. 08/10 9:50am in Calgary telling me that I owe 100K on my visa and asking me about my and my husband?s visa statement. After I told that I don?t know my husband?s statement and that my statement shows $0 balance they hung up on me.

The same low interest credit card offer.  Starts off by saying he is calling from Mastercard - VISA.  Well, since it is individual banks that issue credit cards, not some central Mastercard - VISA office, I knew it was a scam of some sort.  When the bad grammar became more apparent I just hung up.

Caller...heavy accent, very hard to understand, tried 5 times to understand the name he gave me, (still didn't get his name), lotsa background noise, (call centre?), wanted VISA credit card information and interest rates on the card. He also wanted to know how many other cards I had and what the interest rates on them were. Said he was calling from Calgary but caller ID showed (250) 980-3438 which is a BC area code. I kept telling the caller that I was not interested but he got quite annoyed that I didn't want to lower my interest rates and kept insisting that I provide him with info. He claimed to be a "Consulting Company" calling people who pay off their credit cards on time and therefore deserve a reduced interest rate, "if interest rates on the cards were 15% or more". He knew my wife's last name and 1st initial and my address so I asked how he got the information. He said from the phone book. I told him to remove our number from their list and not call again. I then hung up.

Credit card consumer advocate called with caller id of (250) 980-3438 with same offer of reducing interest rates on credit cards.  Could hardly understand him and he said he would call back.  2 minutes later called back showing a (647) 288-1289 area code id and went through the spiel. I told him I would not give any information over phone and that I would check out their info and call back if I wanted to pursue anything.  He gave me a Alberta area code number (403) 648-9228.  I could not find these numbers on reverse directories so with what they are asking for it would be wise to rebuff them. This guy gave the name Oscar Smith.  Nice non-descript name for a guy that speaks english with a heavy east Indian accent.

They were a group of people from India trying for my credit card numer..F****d up bunch!!!!DONT TRUST THEM!!

Same experience as others. Wanted my credit card information promising me lower rates.  Refused to identify their company. SCAM
