The problem is that these scammers are "spoofing" the phone number -- the number on call display is NOT the number they are calling from. Reporting them to phonebusters or the CRTC's Do Not Call registry is pointless, because the calls cannot be tracked. Hang up. Do not return any calls to questionable numbers.

Repeated calls from this number offering `credit cards with lower interest rates`. I have reported it to the Canadian Do Not Call list and have repeatedly asked these people to STOP calling. Apparently neither of these has accomplished shutting these a**holes down.

these JERKS called me yesterday from (250) 453-2289..I pressed "1" to ask them once again to STOP calling me..some East Indian guy replied "how can I take your clothes off when we are on the phone?" I told him that I was calling the police and hung up. I called the CRTC this am and reported it. The RCMP antifraud does not do phone calls. But hopefully the CRTC will do something about this damn company. Thanks for the info.

I used to live in Kamloops (250 area code) and was wondering if my crazy stalker had found me, as I had received several calls from this number over the last few months (I never picked up when I saw the area code). For ONCE I am glad it is just a spammer. Annoying as sh*t, but they don't call that often.

It's outrageous that these bastards can get away with their scam. I shudder to think that some people actually fall for their spiel and give them personal information. I don't know how many folks fall into this category but it must be significantly profitable because it continues.

I am thinking that momlise is one of these low life scam artist two bit crooks. Maybe this site should trace who just posted that nonsense so we can all track them down and terrorize them. Sounding good to me. These people are fraudsters who are sociopaths. They need to be taught a good lesson.

I have asked them multiple times to take me off of the calling list, everytime I do they hang up on me and still continue to call, I tried calling the number back and its not an active number, I do believe that the CRTC passed a ruling in 2001/2002 that all telemarkers have to show a valid return phone number on the CLID....reporting to the CRTC

I am receiving calls from this number as well as other scammers. My suggestion is to answer, get a person on the phone and blow a whistle in their ear, and maybe they will stop calling.

Ditto! I don't understand WHY these calls cannot be stopped! How pathetic that these shysters can do whatever they want & I have to put up with it. What's wrong with Canadian laws? I have repoted them to the Do Not Call List NUMEROUS times to no avail! I will be cancelling my phone!

Just received a call from this number 10 minutes ago. Picked up and there was nothing on the other end. When I went to hand up, I heard what I think was someone breathing... Any one else? D:

1) They are in direct contravention of the CRTC do not call registry (DNCL).
2) The auto-dialer frequently hangs up or fails to connect.
3) They are spoofing the caller id, as these numbers are not in service.
I have spent 6 hours total chasing this down. My research indicates that this is a phishing scam, and they are looking to commit credit card fraud by obtaining valid credit card information. The best possible courses of action are as follows:
1) If they call and you get the automated message, press 1 to speak to an operator (per the instructions). Play along, give them false information and a fake credit card number and expiry date (make something up). Depending on their level of sophistication, this may go undetected by them, and after a number of attempts by this "company" to process faulty information, it will draw attention to them. At worst, it will frustrate them, and they may remove your number from the auto-dialer rotation.
2) YOU MUST report this to the CRTC at 1-+1 866-580-3625 and the RCMP Anti-Fraud line at 1-+1 888-495-8501. The only way to have this fully addressed is to flood the CRTC and RCMP anti-fraud unit with a complaint for each and every call you get from this number. Realize that as inept as the government is, the squeaky wheel always gets the grease. The more time and energy bureaucrats have to spend recording complaints about a particular telemarketer, the more likely it is that they will do something about it. It is also important to note that for each transgression of the DNCL the telemarketer is subject to a fine of $2,000. Consider each of your complaints as a future deposit in your nation's treasury.
