I just had a call from a Young guy with a strong east asian accent, probably from India or the Philippines. He told me that I was elegible to get a reduced interest rate on my Visa or Master-card accounts. I asked him why he was calling instead of doing it by mail, as it is usually done. I also asked how come he didn't know which card I had, as he should already know about my accounts if he was representing a Financial institution as he claimed and he hung up on me...Just I as wanted to be nice by telling him to find a safer job!!!

they just called me and I pressed '1' to speak to a 'live' repr. I asked that my tel # be removed from their database. The Filipino girl said "sure", then disconnected the line right in my ear. Dumb as ass kinda chick!

This number is also associated to (250) 453-2289. The "company" in question is using an auto-dialer, and is in contravention of a number of Canadian laws.

1) They are in direct contravention of the CRTC do not call registry (DNCL).
2) The auto-dialer frequently hangs up or fails to connect.
3) They are spoofing the caller id, as these numbers are not in service.

I have spent 6 hours total chasing this down. My research indicates that this is a phishing scam, and they are looking to commit credit card fraud by obtaining valid credit card information. The best possible courses of action are as follows:

1) If they call and you get the automated message, press 1 to speak to an operator (per the instructions). Play along, give them false information and a fake credit card number and expiry date (make something up). Depending on their level of sophistication, this may go undetected by them, and after a number of attempts by this "company" to process faulty information, it will draw attention to them. At worst, it will frustrate them, and they may remove your number from the auto-dialer rotation.

2) YOU MUST report this to the CRTC at 1-+1 866-580-3625 and the RCMP Anti-Fraud line at 1-+1 888-495-8501. The only way to have this fully addressed is to flood the CRTC and RCMP anti-fraud unit with a complaint for each and every call you get from this number. Realize that as inept as the government is, the squeaky wheel always gets the grease. The more time and energy bureaucrats have to spend recording complaints about a particular telemarketer, the more likely it is that they will do something about it. It is also important to note that for each transgression of the DNCL the telemarketer is subject to a fine of $2,000. Consider each of your complaints as a future deposit in your nation's treasury.

J'ai vu ce numéro apparaitre pas eu le temps de répondre et il n'a pas laissé de message sur mon répondeur. Bien contente de n'avoir pas eu le temps de répondre en lisant tout les commentaires de ce numéro. Une chose m'intrigue vraiment ... j'ai téléphoné à ce numéro pour voir de quoi il s'agissait (avant de lire les commentaires ici) et un enregistrement dit que ce numéro n'existe pas ... comment est ce possible ???

have gotten a few calls from mysterious numbers..but most from this one recently...the calls have been coming in around the same time of day...I have never had odd numbers calling me but for some reason I am being flooded with them now! I didnt recognize the number so didnt answer..I have been caught one too many times by answering...grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Credit card scam

reçu un appel samedi le 14 juillet 2012,message en anglais qui avait rapport avec une carte de crédit.nous avons raccrocher le téléphone.comment peut-on être aussi trou de cul et essayer de fraudé les gens au lieu d'aller travailler honnêtement.

These people just called me and when I asked how they got my number they told me from the f'n list. This number should be cut off of service, and the person charged with harrassment.

Received a call to my home number in Vernon, BC at 4:20pm June 20/12 from this number (250) 352-9679). I wasn't there for the call and have no idea what the person wanted.

Just called us- we missed the call. Operator says number not in service.

I say jail these f*cking scammers after the first offence, I dont mind paying into a system that jails phone scammers.. the death penalty for them would not hurt my feeling either.

Someone called from this number and did not reply to "hello".. was just silent..y no answer Phil Markin??..
