Concerned Person in Ontario

The company is IDC and they are calling from a few different numbers now (905) 673-0312 and (905) 673-0700). They called me several times since mid-November 2009 and when I finally picked up, some guy in a heavy accent said I won a free trip to Vegas (flight and hotel), $500 spending money and all I have to pay for is the airplane ticket taxes. Stupid me I fell for it and gave him my personal info so that he can send me my prize. After I gave him my info, he said I had to pick up my prize in person at their office location in Mississauga and had to make an appointment because I had to sit through a 1 and 1/2 hour presentation, along with about 20 other winners. He then handed me to another person who would give me a claim number. They never told me their company name until I asked for it at the end. The next day I researched the company and visited their website and found out that they are a scam. I emailed them to say that I wanted them to remove my name and phone number from their database and stop calling me. The day before my scheduled appointment to attend their presentation they called me 11 times on my cell number and 9 times on my home number!!! Can you believe that. Every 1/2 hour or so they were calling. They left 2 messages out of the 20 calls, saying that I should call them back to confirm the prize claim number. They also said that I won an extra $1000 to spend someplace... I just deleted the message. I called them back and told them to stop calling me and that I'm not interested in what they were selling. Their website is http://idclub.ca and even though it states that you just have to attend the presentation and don't have to buy anything to claim the prize, I'm sure there is some catch. If I'm one of about 20 winners attending at that specific time slot on that day (there are many times and days you can choose from to attend the presentation), imagine how many winners in total they have to fulfill the prize for, especially if none of them join or pay anything. The company would be out of business. I work in marketing for a large corporation and we hold many contests, so I know the legality of fulfilling prizes. I was searching on their site for the contest rules and nothing is posted. It's not a legitimate contest (or so they call it a contest) and my only interest in attending the presentation was from a legal perspective. But since they called me so many times and pissed me off, I can't be bothered giving them 3 and a 1/2 hours of my time (2 hours to travel there and back and 1 and 1/2 hours to sit through the presentation). If anybody does attend the presentation, please update this forum with specifics and not just "yes the trip is free" because a worker from IDC can easily just write that.

I foolishly went the the presentation today. I was courous and thought will why not. I sat through their presentation and they want you to purchase a membership in their club for just under $3500.00 They claim they have savings discounts to Bad Boys, McDonalds, 2001 Audio Video, cars4u.com selloffvacations.com etc. At the end of the presentation we decided to sign up. I came home and starting googling the company and found out that it's a scam. I have cancelled my cheque and hope that all will be O.K. I feel really bad for the people that were taken by this scam. The vacations they are giving away are purchased at http://www.vacationgetawayincentives.com/ For $99 a year, the company and print off as many certificates as they want and if the certificate is redeemed, they are paid a comission of $3-$6. What what I can tell on the internet, the whole thing is a scam.

With regards to IDC the biggest complaint I found on the net is that they promise you a 10 day period to change your mind and if your not happy with the product then you can get a full refund. People on the net are saying that they won't pay the money back and they have to take the company to small claims court. What I didn't like was you paid your money and then they want you to come back in 3 or 4 days to go over how you can use the internet to take advantage of the savings. You don't get to go home and log on and see what you just spent $3500 on. I think this is their way of cashing the cheque and making sure it clears before you find out you didn't get anything special.

I would stay away from this company. I didn't find anyone who said they loved the company only complaints.

That Girl

I just got a call from these people as well... Googled the number and it brought me here.  Thanks so much, I know now not to pick up if they call me back.

Thanks again!
