MJR - I told this guy last week I would settle with them and he refused to even listen to the rest of what I had to say.  I told him that he didn't accept my offer, that I would NEVER take another call from them again, which I do not intend to.The collection laws in Canada state that they have 2 years to collect from the last payment you made.  If you pay them one dime, that 2 years starts all over again. It has been 2 years this month for me.  Another 5 years and this is off my credit.  I can wait.  They have already done as much damage to my credit as they can.If you are the type of person who cannot just ignore them, go to the CRTC website or call them and make a harassment claim.  Also, since they give a disclaimer that the call may be recorded, you have the right to record them as well to prove the harassment.  Just an FYI
