Received a call from an East Indian voice stating he was from Lindquist tax and accounting firm in Toronto and is working with 14 banks to lower interest rates to 6%. He knew my name and what credit cards I had...needed confirmation of numbers, expiry dates and security code at back. I was suspicious and asked for his name and ID number. He said it was "James Marshall" and his ID # was 2442. He knew my address, and asked for my DOB and combined annual income. Then his supervisor came on the phone, he called himself "Joe Blake" (also East Indian accent) and offered an ID number of 801623. He got quite irate when I asked him what was in it for him as the arrangement sounded way too fishy. Then he dismissed me and told me to have a good day. Anyways, I gave way too much info, and had to shut down 3 credit cards over the holidays! They best not call back, or I'll be making their day...

Ok... these guys are scammers!!! Big Time!!! First they told me that they were Mastercard and that they were going to lower my interest rate to 6% for being a good customer. Then they asked me for my address (which I told them they already had because I just got my new Mastercard), then they asked me for my expiration date (which I told them they had), then to read out my credit card number to them.... WTF!? By then, I knew it was something like a SCAM because when I hung up and looked up their number on the yellowpages.ca... I saw all of these posts. BE CAREFUL PEEPS... Since I had hung up on them to investigate they called me back twice... while I was talking to a REAL rep from Mastercard. oh ya, by the way the guy's name was Alex Johnson and his title was Credit Card Advocate and that I could also reach him at (403) 648-9228.

I usually answer these calls so I can be put on their do not call list. About 2 weeks agao the I received a call and I pushed 9 or whatever to talk to someone, I was as put through to an indian fellow, I made the mistake of asking if he was calling from Scotiavisa. ooops. He said yes and started his pitch about a rate as low as 6%. Said he wanted to confirm my credit card number do I said go for it, he asked for my credit card number again and I said No, you tell me my number if you are calling from Visa. He said I needed to provide it so he could verify the account. I gave it to him and then he asked for my birthdate. I said hell no, you haven't even said my name. He spelled it rather than said it... funny thing is he gave me the same wrong spelling as the phone book. Should have been my clue. So I gave him a wrong birthdate and he came back on the line none the wiser. He knew my balance and wanted my expiry date. I said no way but he somehow tricked me out of it. I think he gave me an expiry and asked me to confirm but then I corrected it. Wasn't that nice of me? Then he wanted the security numbers from the back but I would not give that. Started asking if I had been the victim of identity theft and telling me how smart I was. Then he tricked me out of giving him my limit and advised me to make a big payment on the card so he could negotiate the best rate possible. Here is where I asked for a number to call him back after I made the payment and immediately called my Visa company. They helped me to cancel the card and set me up with a different card with a better rate. Yahoo kept calling while I was on the line with the real visa people. Called again after I finished with Visa and I told him the jig was up that I talked with Visa and the card was cancelled and that if he called again I was going straight to the RCMP. Haven't heard from this particular company again but did receive one from another company. Stayed on the line and at the end of the recorded speil it gives an option of pushing 2 to be put on their do not call list.

Yes to add to the other comments my elderly, widowed mother has been scammed also. They offered her a holiday to Mexico. The person that spoke is Sam Anderson. I have reported it on the website below. So far I have been unable to get their exact address. But I believe they are in Carrollton, Texas (which does seem a bit strange given the accents and that previously they said they were in Georgia).Take care everyone.(another number they told me was 0012034127273)http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/contact.shtm
Hello
They keep calling me at the same time every hour of every day and never answer the phone. I am sick of receiving calls from these people late at night and early morning. I am now at the point of unplugging my telephone at nights so I can sleep. DISGRACEFUL!
