They are still at it!! Called & spoke to my hubby who had the sense to say "speak to the wife".. after he had confirmed his D.O.B.  A person called "Joe Manson" ( doesn't that fill you with confidence?) called me back & after a few preliminary questions asked for my D.O.B.  which I refused to give. After he gave me this number " to confirm" I told him that it could be his cousin next door answering the phone with the correct name. He then asked for the SVN ( 3 digit # ) off the back of the card, by the signature. I informed him that I had worked for companies that processed CC info & that he should be telling that to me ( btw... my CC has a 4 digit on the front !! ) All the time I was checking the tel # he gave & checking Google maps too.... nuttin', nadda, zilch. So I thanked him & hung up & called Liberty Financial Head Office & reported this to them. They are clever as the genuine Liberty Financial has the same web addy, but missing the "i" so ,,,GOOD  ... www.libertyfinancialfg.comBAD  .... www.libertyfinancialifg.com      see how close they have it?The real Liberty Financial was very interested in the web infoBTW there are many scams going on in Montreal,QC, Markham,ON & Brampton,ON... beware

Heh. Just got a call from these people as well.
Nicky Brown was the name she gave me. Heavy accent as well. Alot of background niose along with the accent making it extremly difficult to understand/hear properly. (red flag 1)
Number on caller ID didn't match phone number she gave me to call back (I requested call back number which took several tries to get it) (flag 2)
I also requested website I could visit for more info (www.libertyifg.com) which Bonnie (sis?) above also noted that details are flimsy. (flag 3)
I didn't even get to the part where the 600$ fee comes in lol..
She kept repeating that the interest rates would go down to 3.5% & kept asking for my CC info to "confirm" & asking how much on my cards, how much I owed, how much I paid/month, etc. (flag 4)
Of course I didn't giver anything.
She wanted also to connect me to her manager to carry out <whatever> (I declined) (flag 5)
At this point she was egar to get off the phone & simply repeated the callback number urging me to call. (flag 6)

I don't think it is a scam per-se --- rather a method for them to make $$ by transfering your CC bills over to them instead of whatever bank you deal with.
Although I mist say it was all very confusing & difficult to understand them (flag 7)
They don't get much interest out of you but the "one time fee" is sure a nice lil grab if enough people sign up for it.
Did not call my CC company [yet] to see if any other complaints or if this is more "malicious" intent involved.

Caller ID = 416-001-2345
Callback number given = (905) 595-4511 ext. 311

Although I am on the Do Not Call list, I had a call from a heavily-accented man, Nick Camic. He  claimed he could lower my % rate to 3%. Wanted to 'verify' my Credit Card info. I told him this was a scam, and that only the banks could lower the interest rates. I asked if he were from a bank, he told me ‘no’. He gave me info to try to prove to me he was legitimate. He gave me an ID # of 01225 and said he was calling from Liberty International Financial Group. Gave me phone: (905) 595-4511, and website address www.libertyifg.com . The website is also very flimsy on the details, it doesn’t really tell you much at all. Very vague.  But, it does seem that their ‘basic’ package to lower interest rates charges an exorbitant fee of @ $600 to lower your rates! After we spoke, I checked on my phone to see the last number that called me, and it was (416) 001-2345. I dialled that number, and got a ‘not in service’ recording: it’s what is called a ‘spoofed’ number, where the actual number is somehow changed to this other number. A legitimate company would have no need to hide their real phone number from you -- all info below is directly from the phonebusters.com site:

Phone Number Spoofing
"I received a call and my call display indicated a phone number (123) 456-7890 or (777) 777-7778 (or any other strange combination of numbers)".

This is a phone number that has been programmed into the system so your call display indicates a different number than the originators.   Although this does not mean the offer you are receiving is illegal, you should certainly have a "red flag" approach to any offer.

Why would a legitimate company try to obscure their identity?
