I also recieved a call from liberty international financial about my interest rate..! A dumb guy named cliff called me and was asking for my CC number.. How can a person be so stupid to give out this sort of personal information to an unknown person over the phone.. this guy had an indian accent.. F***ing indian jack***!

I got a call this morning from very heavy accented man. He claimed he could lower my interest rate to 3.5%. I told him to go get f**ked. He then gave me a number to call back at if i didn't beleive him (1 (905) 595-4511 ext 312) Upon calling another heavy accented man answerd the phone which i had trouble understanding, i told him after a few minutes to put me through to ext 312, which he did, and then the man who had called first anwswered the phone laughing (real professional moron). I finally picked a few choice words to lay on him, and hung up the phone. F***ing scam.

The same thing just happened to me. I ended up hanging up on the guy and he called and left me a message and then the 3 other times I just heard alot of back ground noise. I feel like an idiot too but I called my credit card company right away, I can't believe there are still people out there doing this!

Although I am on the Do Not Call list, I had a call from a heavily-accented man, Nick Camic. He  claimed he could lower my % rate to 3%. Wanted to 'verify' my Credit Card info. I told him this was a scam, and that only the banks could lower the interest rates. I asked if he were from a bank, he told me ‘no’. He gave me info to try to prove to me he was legitimate. He gave me an ID # of 01225 and said he was calling from Liberty International Financial Group. Gave me phone: (905) 595-4511, and website address www.libertyifg.com . The website is also very flimsy on the details, it doesn’t really tell you much at all. Very vague.  But, it does seem that their ‘basic’ package to lower interest rates charges an exorbitant fee of @ $600 to lower your rates! After we spoke, I checked on my phone to see the last number that called me, and it was (416) 001-2345. I dialled that number, and got a ‘not in service’ recording: it’s what is called a ‘spoofed’ number, where the actual number is somehow changed to this other number. A legitimate company would have no need to hide their real phone number from you -- all info below is directly from the phonebusters.com site:

Phone Number Spoofing
"I received a call and my call display indicated a phone number (123) 456-7890 or (777) 777-7778 (or any other strange combination of numbers)".

This is a phone number that has been programmed into the system so your call display indicates a different number than the originators.   Although this does not mean the offer you are receiving is illegal, you should certainly have a "red flag" approach to any offer.

Why would a legitimate company try to obscure their identity?

I suggest everyone on the Do Not Call list register a complaint at https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/plt-cmp-eng  (This is the site for Canada’s National Do Not Call list). Read it, and click the link at the top titled ‘Unsolicited Telecommunications Rule’, and follow the instructions.

To be frank i wasn't really expecting what i got from my research on liberty financial.. They do exists.. This was the biggest surprise for me.. Cause I thought they were scam..  but still i'm not sure about the process that they are using to drop my interest rate from 24% to 3.9%.. Is this really possible?
