Fed Up Mom

Premium Buyers Club (or Ontario International), 6175 Hwy 7 #6, Woodbridge, ON (not a "Timeshare", its a "Lifestyle Club") - we went to their "reception" after obtaining the prize code for filling out a ballet (yeah right!).  Made the appointment, had no intention of buying anything. Thought "what the heck, the least we will get is a 3 day/2 night getaway".  Was specifically told it would take no longer than 60-90 minutes, we were there for over 2 HOURS before finally drawing for the prize, which was the 3 day/2 night getaway at 21 different north american locations.  After getting the detailed prize information, which is through Odenza Marketing, you need to pay a refundable (??) deposit of $100 US, doesn't seem to be any guarantees of where/when you will be able to travel (except the first night is Sunday - Wednesday).  Searching Odenza Marketing through google leads me to many red flags. All seems kind of hokey to me!  The certificate will be shredded.  Was a complete waste of my time.
It appears that the Premium Buyers Club may be able to save you money if you regularly travel 2-3 times a year on exotic vacations. Cost $8999 + fees, taxes, was over $11000 total for a 10 year term.  Most of their other associations with companies can be obtained elsewhere through coupons, searching for deals on-line or negotiations without paying their club fee (reduced furniture, restaurants, home renovations, hotels - anyone heard of priceline.com?)
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.  This is a scam, lots of high pressure sales tactics.  I won't be reeled in again!
Note:  While getting antsy after the intial 90 minutes, I stood at the table because I simply could not sit on the chair any longer.  The agent told me we weren't allowed to stand in that room!  ha ha, what a crock - by that time, I just needed to get out of there!

Mike

I got a call from PBC Discounts stating that I won 1 of a possible 5 prizes but I had to go to 6195 Highway 7, Unit 6 in Woodbridge, Ontario on a Saturday pick it up.  They said I had put my name in a ballot (but I couldn't understand where they said I filled out the ballot).  I said I wasn't available on Saturday.  They called Monday wanting me to come on Tuesday.  I said I wasn't available then, either.  They called on Tuesday and said I could come Wednesday and I said I was available and took my information.  They were more upset that I wasn't married or engaged to be married or even dating.  They then connected me to the manager and she asked if I knew what I had to do to get one of the guaranteed prizes.  I said no, and she said I had to sit through a 90-minute presentation.  I immediately said I'm not sitting through a 90-minute presentation for some real estate scam.  She said it had nothing to do with real estate.  I said I wasn't coming and to delete me from the guest list.

Irritated Guy N. G.

I got a call from this phone number: (905) 754-5163 by some guy named Alex with a heavy east Indian accent, claiming to be some sort of a senior manager. He said that I won a prize because I filled out a ballot (which I never did), some time ago. I told him, "Whatever it is you are selling, I'm not interested." He said that he is not selling anything and he just want me to pick up anyone of the 5 prizes which will be drawn, after attending a 60 to 90 minute presentation, to be held at: 6175 Hwy 7, unit 6 Vaughan, ON. He said that I am not obligated to buy anything.
To cut the story short, my wife and I went there. The representatives were very persistent and they push you to become a member which cost around $11,000 and there is a renewal fee of one hundred plus some dollars (if I remember correctly) every year. In my opinion, you can sometimes get really good deals (i.e. vacation, cruise, appliances, electronics, furnitures, etc.) on your own. I think that this is just another BIG SCAM and a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. They are looking for SUCKERS!

AandBCuth

I have received a call from PBC Discounts, for the 3rd time.   I have asked repeatedly to have my name and number removed from their list, but they keep calling.  I confirmed the address etc. matches that of my search.   This is a scam and a word or warning to everyone ever filling out a ballot for anything, not to do it.  We were at the Toronto Sportsman Show and this is how they got our information.  Whoever is selling our contact information should be shut down!

JoeAverage

I got a call from (905) 552-2511 and the guy started telling me that I filled out a ballot on Apr. 7 and that I won a prize. asked me to take a pen and paper and write down the information of how to claim it. Since I NEVER fill out 'ballots' or anything where I can 'win' a prize I knew it was bullllllsh*tt. I said that I haven't filled out any ballots and that I'm not interested - the reply 'Well, it must be someone in your family who filled it out'. I further questioned (yeah, I spent about 20 minutes on the call - had time to burn and didn't just hang up) where he got my name and what else is written on the 'ballot'. The reply was that 'you are two people between the ages of 27 and 65 and the total income is more then $60000' (so now you know what 'criteria' they are looking for) That's funny - I'm single; so who is that other person on the ballot that wants to share in MY prize? I kept repeating that I'm not interested in the prize and every time he wanted to know why I'm not interested. I suggested to him that since I'm not interested that he can give this prize to someone else - he insisted that it is my prize. So after 20 minutes of this he finished the conversation with 'F___ off' which I expected he would. I started laughing and hope that he didn't hang up to soon and heard it.
