10h20, 06 Nov. Got a call from Alex Fernandes", who said he is in Woodbridge, ON, although that exchange is shown to be in the Clarkson neighbourhood in southern Mississauga. Anyway, he claims we filled out a contest entry in April 2010 containing our phone number, address (no unit number, apparently, which makes me wonder if they just take a name at random from the directory), and annual income. We NEVER give out our annual income. He also says we have to be married, which is none of anybody's business, but finally he just wanted to make sure we are "a couple". For all he knows we could be "a couple" of roommates! Anyway, the 5 prize choices are 1. $1,500 cash, 2. furniture: LR,BR,DR. 3. 3da/2nites Vegas, Niagara, or Cancun. 4. Flat screen Toshiba. 5. 7-day Carib cruise. "No strings attached, no seminar, no timeshare." Then he connected me with Manager William Lee who wanted to give ma a gift claim code, contingent on our setting up an appointment for 6175 Highway 7, Unit 6, Woodbridge. We are too busy. I took his number to call back. (905) 963-0139 X828. I have seen William's name on these pages before! Both men have accents that suggest India, but this is irrelevant.

Alex called me again this morning from (905) 254-3700. He is wondering when I would like an appointment (see 6 Nov 2010). I told him I have William Lee's phone number and that we are so busy right now I will have to call back when we have the time to go to Woodbridge. He suggested that the prize must be claimed soon. I asked him to take our name and telephone number off their list. Incidentally, William Lee and his crew have been doing this sort of thing for a year or more. There are numerous other websites about it, accessible according to the number from which you were called. Alex says he is in Woodbridge, Ontario, but some people have suggested he is in India. Just remember that the world is "shrinking" in a sense, and it really doesn't matter if they are in Timbuktu or Lower Slobovia. They are out to make money like everybody else. If you are annoyed, it should be because a telemarketer is bothering you, not because he is East Indian or any other ethnic group on the globe. "This is not a telemarketer call 'my friend'. You filled out a coupon and I want to tell you what you have won, 'my friend.'" Typical bunch of BS. Immediately call back and the number is disconnected.
