Call originates Halifax, Nova Scotia.  When I pick up, there is no voice/sound, and caller hangs up after about 3 seconds.  Call repeats in approximately 1 hour.  When I don't pick up, call repeats in approximately 10 hrs.If this a collections agency, that is illegal harassment.ARC has other numbers - they're hounding for debts incurred by the ex and the ex's new live-in.  Like most collectors, they really don't care who is responsible as long as the most possible people pay them.

They are rude, pain, persistent!, ignorant.They have been calling my number on and off for 5 years, probably for the person who had my number 6 or more years ago.When I finally pressed the #1 and told the guy that the number belongs to me they were extremely rude and told me that I need common sense....when I started to reply to this he hung up on me.They should check to make sure the number they are nonstop calling matches the person who actually has the number.

That is hard to read with all the caps.  You seem awfully angry, maybe you should find a jub that makes you less angry, it just isn't healthy

Clearly, you're ignorant on the topic. Someone, whom I do know, used my phone number as a contact number on several debts. I have been receiving calls for 3 years from numerous collections agencies. At first, I answered, explained that this person is not, nor has she ever, lived here and that I have not spoken with her in ages so would have no idea how to contact her. I, as well as the representative, were always friendly and co-operative. However, 3 years later, I am STILL receiving calls from the same numbers along with new ones as they continue to pass the debt around from agency to agency.    If you think for 5 seconds that simply explaining that the person cannot be reached at this number will prevent them from calling, you're sadly mistake. I'm sure many angry Canadians would agree.    Try not being so bitter, situations happen and the fact that you're so angry and hateful proves nothing more than what everyone is already saying, collections agents are scum who refuse to treat anyone on the other end of a conversation with a morsel of respect. You deserve all the crap you receive during your work day, if it weren't for years of you (and others like you) failing to understand business ethics, you'd have less to complain about.

Just got the same call. ARC accounts recovery agency. Been calling me non-stop almost every day. They have a few other numbers too that I've been able to block on my blackberry automatically. The other number is 1-+1 877-582-4840. How ever this 902 number is the first i've seen to call me, needless to say, it's blocked now.
