They've tried calling a few times this week. It really _IS_ Scotia Bank.
My telephone-number is listed on our social-club's account with them.
So, we do have a prior business relationship, which ENTITLES them to call me,
despite my number being listed on the DO-NOT-CALL list.
The caller was curteous, and brief. It seems to be a marketing-effort by Scotia Bank
to contact their "business" (our club is not classed as a "personal" account) clients.
I WOULD like them to call me, at my number, if there were anything fraudulent happening with the account!
Complaints to the CRTC do absolutely no good. I believe that they simply ignore them.
Get onto your MP and MPP, If you can get an answer from them. The do not call registry
is a joke. I have registered several complaints and never got a response despite requests
for a response. They just don't seem to give a damn.
According to Bell, this is NOT Scotia bank, but scammers trying to gain information. It is fraud. Call the police. If you don't make noise, nothing will ever happen. For almost a year I have been receiving calls several times a week (sometimes several times a day) from this number...I have never answered. My husband says I should...but I figure that if it is MY bank (which is NOT Scotiabank), they will call my landline OR leave a message for me.
I am glad I found this website...I have just gone to the SCENE website, where I changed my phone number & unsubscribed from EVERY mailing list and contact list that I do not remember signing up for in the first place. If this does not stop the calls...I will call the BBB.
:) Am hoping to have solved the problem...
they just called me too, wow they are really desperate for money. Oh Well they just lost me as a customer After getting a call from this number (I didn't pick up) and hearing that this may be related to Scotiabank/Scene, I went to Scene.ca, logged in to my Scene account, and found out that I had been subscribed to all sorts of offers from Scotiabank/Scene INCLUDING Telemarketing. So, if you have a Scene card and you're getting these phone calls, I suggest you log in and unsubscribe.
I'm not positive this will work, but it's my suggestion for now.
