After reading about this number online, I contacted "Scene.ca" and here is the email I got back from them:

I keep getting phone calls from 888-882-3811 and it's driving me crazy! According to http://ecoliving.scotiabank.com/finance, 1-888-882-3811 is a real Scotiabank number. Since I do have a Scotiabank account and they obviously know where I live, why would they keep calling my house at stupid times (8:45 pm)? Everyone at my house hangs up the phone (or doesn't even answer) when this number calls, so why do they keep calling here? If we needed financing help, we would go to our local Scotiabank. Quit calling everyone all the damn time! My god, these people are annoying. After getting a call from this number (I didn't pick up) and hearing that this may be related to Scotiabank/Scene, I went to Scene.ca, logged in to my Scene account, and found out that I had been subscribed to all sorts of offers from Scotiabank/Scene INCLUDING Telemarketing. So, if you have a Scene card and you're getting these phone calls, I suggest you log in and unsubscribe.
I'm not positive this will work, but it's my suggestion for now.
they have called every day this week and i have not answered. they don't seem to get the picture. so how about this? The next time they call, i s**t you not, i will insist that they cancel both of my scotiabank visa cards immediately. I am sure they will not do it, probably don't even have the authority, but i will have a battle of wits showdown with them. I will insist that they transfer me to someone who can cancel my account and then i will follow through. Are you listening scotiabank? I hate you! This is not how you develop long lasting customer relationships.
I urge all of you to follow suit. You don't need scotiabank. There are plenty of other banks competing for your business. Let's send a clear message that it is not ok to autodial us and offer us stuff we don't want.
PFO and GFY
they keep calling me on a daily basis, without leaving a msg. Not sure who they are, and not answering them. I have no account with Scotiabank, either. Called 2010-11-23 8:10 my wife answered on speaker phone because any time I pick up it is dead air. He started asking my wife for me and as soon as I said this is he, the man hung up. I called back and left a message using my share of choice language..
