This is a known phishing fraud operation. The numerous fake posts here claiming this is a legitimate number are shills for the fraud. I called Revenue Services using the number posted on their web site. They confirmed they DO use this number for calling out. They searched for past calls to my cel phone and found they were calling, but looking for someone who is not me. They removed the entry as a 'wrong number' and apologized. Called ...MSP..... they never heard of that number...and said it was not one of theirs....
my MSP.... fine......no problems.. has to be
This is a real #. It's MSP Billing, and if it's calling you, you or someone who had your # owes money. a call saying they're from BC amulance and to call back at 877-455-4966.... Thanks this same number 877-455-4966 requested to call back on...well This same medical service plan supposedly calling is jamming my in box . Before it was a caller from Revenue Canada..I put on my phone message that we were sending the police to India to arrest him. Then I got no more calls, and they actually were arrested. Telus help reporting line puts us on endless holds after trying to report the fraud and are NO help. So sorry that the woman actually has a western North American accent - and not an Indian accent as before. . These scammers should be caught ad Telus should be more responsible to stop this. People in rural areas are apparently targeted as easy victims. When you get no help from Telus these frauds are then supported by our phone company. Got a call from thie number.
This number is the "Chief Privacy, Security and Compliance officer for Revenue Services of BC"
Dont Believe me? Call 866-361-5050 = BC MSP, they ramble on about secure information and say that questions can be directed to this guy ay the 877-455-4966.
SO if you get a call from these folks, you need to make some payments, make the call!!
1-877-455-4966 is the number for bills payment at Revenue Services Canada. I called main switchboard and confirmed the details. This is not a phishing scam. They were actually looking for a previous tenant at our address who was behind with their MSP payments. 1. Check this MSP site:
2. Then click: Application for Pre-Authorized Debit (PDF) form
You can find this phone number is from the RSBC Security & Compliance Officer.
SCAM This is a real number for MSP. I called the number on the website and they said it's just an automated call to remind you of your bill. Even when you're only behind by a couple of days, which I was because their payment site was down. I phoned the province of bc. regarding 1-877-455-4966 an was told this number has nothing to do with them.DO NOT RETURN THEIR CALLS UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING SCAMMED !!!!PLEASE NOTIFY TELUS THAT THIS IS A NUSIANCE CALL FISHING FOR PEOPLES PRIVATE INFO.THE BC GOVT CAN FIND YOU IF THEY NEED TO BY YOU DRIVERS LICENSE OR HEALTH NUMBER.. I was getting calls asking me to call 877-455-4966 back.. which i never did.. but i did go through the govenment website, and called their number on the website.. jumped through a couple people.. and finally found that they do make robo-calls, which only give vague info (as they are not allowed to leave personal information on voicemails)
I told them the number they were calling with the auto-dial, and they confirmed it was associated with my co-worker who no longer works here. its legit.
This is not a scam but just a data entry error in the BC Revenue Services database. I worked for BC MSP and a number of years ago they separated the "MSP Registration" system from the "Billing" system and moved all billing data to the Revenue Services Department which is part of Finance and completely separate from the Health Department. Yeah, sounds like a typical Government make-work project but I guess the had their reasons, probably so they could hire more managers since we can never have too many of those.
Anyway, its just an error and if you call Revenue Services they will sort it out for you in less than 30 seconds. This happened to me today and I called, waited on hold for about 20 seconds and the guy on the end sorted it out real fast. They know exactly what is happening since this happens a lot. You don't need to give them any information other than the number they called. They will tell you "we are looking for "nnnnnn". If that's not your name, say so and you won't hear from them again.
Note: Despite what other posters may say, do not call MSP! As I have said, that is now a totally separate department now and they won't have the slightest clue what you are talking about. Their call center is for registration, not for billing. If you want to be super safe, look up the number for BC Revenue Services and call that but the number they give you gets you there faster since its dedicated for delinquent accounts. Funny how they answer the phone right away when they want something from you! :-)
I received call 877-455-4966 and returned call . They were asking my name and DOB and other personal info. I did not provide . I called MSP the phone no on Web site. They claimed it is not from them. I think it is better get info from Website and call the no given on it that way it is safer before you expose your info. However I called police and provided the phone no that it is id theft can be. Beware. Received the same voice message from 1 877-455-4966 and, later, from 1 250-405-4966.
Each message stated it was Revenuse Services of British Columbia (RSBC) and that correspondance was sent to my address regarding my BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) account.
RSBC is a legitimate branch of MSP and they provide follow-up services for accounts that are behind in payment.
You can Google their website at - http://www.sbr.gov.bc.ca/individuals/Customer_Service/MSP/contact.htm#RSBC
You can call them (and, thus, ensure that you are calling them and not being scammed) at 1 866-361-5050.
I had not received corrrespondance as the message had stated.
I Googled MSP/RSBC and called the number provided (ie. not the number left in the recording).
I spoke with a very nice and efficient gentleman who cleared up the error.
He asked for my account number which I actually do not know as my employer covers my MSP payments.
He then asked for the telephone number on which the messages were left.
He 'searched me' via that option and asked if I was 'Daryl'.
I said 'no' and he asked how long I have had my number to which I replied 'about 16 years'.
He was surprised but then noted that Daryl and I have the exact same phone number but the prefixes are different (mine - 604, Daryl's - 250).
He made a note of the discrepancy so that I will not receive any further calls.
He took a moment to answer a few questiosn from me and was very helpful.
It is OK to call back to RSBC, they are just clearing up unpaid accounts.
However, I suggest that anytime you are asked to call a number of an organisation, you ALWAYS Google them (or whatever) and then YOU call THEM... that way you know you are being safe.
DON'T do that. THAT sounds like fraud.I would get the official Medical Services Plan toll-free number either from the official government website or the government listings in your phone book. MSP IS a SCAMThey take payments and do NOT provide the services for which you pay when you need them = FRAUDthis is enforced FRAUD against all residents of BCWhen you pay for something you are legally entitled to receive it UNLESS it is MSPA class action lawsuit to shut this SCAM down is necessary it a scam i dont owe money i have full benefits defiantly a scam It is definitely MSP - Revenue Services. I returned the call, and all they asked for was my phone # and name. Since I have a new phone, my # was attached to someone else, who is in arrears with MSP.
They removed the number, and assured me they won't call again.
