100% FRAUD!!! Called paypal at their 888 number, they NEVER called me and NEVER had this 800-410-1576 number, was also told that the 888-221-1161. is the number for both Canada and USA! Non of their department has the 800 number nor a record of calling me. I then put them on hold and called the 800-410-1576 in conference call, the Paypal person was very nice and didn't speak so the 800 fraudulent person was asking me my persona questions, I told them that I know they are fraud and won't give them anything, that I have Paypal on the phone as well. She hanged up the phone immediately!!! Now Paypal's aware of them. Not a scam, not phishing and not fraud. It's Paypal's 3rd part collection when your account has a negative balance. Nothing to fear. Dead air. Clearly a scam if the auto-dialer works faster than the people in the boiler room. I don't know if the people calling from that phone number is a scam but after reading these posted, I logged into my Paypal account and in fact, I owed money because I didn't have a credit card linked to the account Just had one of those 1-800-410-1576 calls myself. Thanks for the info here. I'd not been able to catch the phone so thought I'd look it up before doing so. It's a scam, call paypal and report them they keep calling
I never have or intend to use paypal
I've gotten a call from this number about 5 times in the last couple weeks. It never never even rings long enough for me me to answer. Just one quick ring and then it disconnects. Sorry. I was wrong about the fraud. I checked my PayPal account and there was indeed a problem. Transfers were not working and my account had failed to process a recent purchase. I guess number belongs to a collection agency. Ain't that some [***]!! I knew you were the kind to go on google and lookup symptoms!! And im the one who is gullable?? If you have a headache, you take tylenols, advils and it will pass. the main reasons why you have headaches is because you are probably tired or hungry. But then again, if you have those, proves that you at least have a head so its a start. But we are getting off the subject now... I say they are frauds because they call me to tell me I had a negative balance on my account when i had already made a transfer!! If they are really calling from paypal; dont you think they would know that a payment is on it's way?? And i'm the one who is gullable? lol lol lol Listen, i'm gathering up money because I want to become richer, can you give me your credit card number and info so I can do just that? since you're so intelligent pouhahahahaha... By the way, my debts are all paid and I did it all WITHOUT giving out my credit card number over the phone so I guess that i do have my big boy pants on hahahaha.... There nothing more I can say to someone who gives their credit card number over the phone. That's just plain stupid and I guess that's what you are. STUPID!! I also received a call from them, from Paypal, they asked me for my postal code just for verification and after that they told me whats wrong with my account. I also noticed the accent, asked him where the company is located, they told me in Quebec, maybe thats why the accent, they dont have the same as the rest of canada because some talks french too Paypal, legit. They left a voicemail asking to call back. It was about my account. When I checked my account (I didn't call back), I did see there was an issue with my account. This number is a legitimate call from PayPal, regarding an issue with your PayPal balance (chargeback, negative balance, etc.) I received this call because an instant transfer I sent on PayPal bounced from my bank account, putting my PayPal balance in the red. I was able to resolve the negative balance by initiating another bank transfer, but my number was not out of their "to call" list yet because the time between the timeframe they eneded to call me to address the problem and when the balance was resolved was only a day or so apart. Working for PayPal and eBay back when they had an office in Vancouver, BC; we would call our members if there were major issues needing to be resolved immediately, such as billing concerns. If you get a call from someone claiming to be from some known company and you do not believe them, just hang up and call the customer support line yourself so you know you can confirm the issue presented in the call you received. Just don't believe it's all fraudulent and leave it alone, because if the call is legitimate and if it is coming from a financial institution (like PayPal) you could be screwed if you just ignore the problem. Use your common sense!
