I am visiting Edmonton from American.  Last night was my first night here, and I got a call in the middle of the night on my American cell phone from (780) 424-5841.  I thought it was very strange that I got a call from an Edmonton number, since nobody from Edmonton knows that I am here except for the friend that I am staying with.  My cell phone is from Verizon Wireless, and my area code is 812, which is Indiana.  I never received any unknown calls from Canada when in the US.  

I find it very disturbing after reading these other complaints about this number, since it seems to indicate that the person who originated this call must have had knowledge that this cell phone was in Edmonton.

I did not answer the phone since I was sleeping.

This number, (780) 424-5841, has called me 3 times today. When I finally answered it was BBC or something marketing, looking to do some kind of survey. They knew they were calling a cell phone, asked them how they obtained the number, was told it was on the computer, asked her how the computer gets the number. Said she didn't know but could ask her supervisor. Asked her to please remove my number from her list and she said
"Since you said list, we can remove it from the list"
Wtf....

So Bell is hiring a marketing company to sell Solo phones and subscriptions...
They are NOT observing the Canadian do-not-call list.
Can I sue Bell or something?

just got a call from this number moments ago, at midnight, 12am...I answered but thought maybe i was too late, but now i see its common that no one's there. Plus no message left.but, what's crazy to me is, my cell# is NOT this area code, but I do LIVE int his area code! My cell# area code is 902, Prince Edward Island, other side of the country, 4000km, but how the HECK does it know that at this moment I am physically local at this moment...geezuz...

I recieved a call from this number it was someone with a heavy accent, I said wrong number and hung up. They called again but did not leave any message. When they called again a few days later  I ignored it not recognizing the number. I don't give out this cell phone number I am using. I am curious to see how they got it.

Weird. This number tried calling me on my cell last night at 8:51pm. I didn't noticed anyone calling me until midnight so I didn't bother calling back, until this afternoon. When I tried calling back, it said the number was out of service. Just last week I got another weird call on my cell while I was at work. That number is a spammy number ( did the search on here) and that number is 780- 702-0874). When I tried calling back that one, it said that this number could not dial out because it is an answering machine(?!) Weird. But anyway, both the spam numbers area codes are from Edmonton and surrounding area ( including some of St. Albert, Sherwood Park & Stratcona).
