NO charity calls from a 778#
its a SCAM
the name of the game is volume volume volume
and eventually they will get a caller that is confused (probably a poor senior) and will give them what they want

i dont even give money at the door - i have asked for their charity # and said once i check them out with revenue canada i might MIGHT donate

This number called me and i didn't pick it up when i phoned it back all i got was a message that said they were experiencing technical difficulties and to phone back in 24 hours.

(778) 786-0013      I called this number back and it was the Canadian Council for the Blind.......they said they were one of my charities.....sorry - but not.......why don't they have their name so it comes up on the phone...not hide behind a number!!!!

I got a call from this number, and I answered. I didn't catch the business name, but is was something about blind kids. A lady asked me for a donation of $299, to buy a laptop so a blind kid could have an equal chance at learning. I siad I was raising a kid on a single income and couldn't afford to donate. She then said they could accept smaller donations, and I again said I couldn't help at this time. Then, she kept pushing. I finally got rid of her. The very next evening, I got another call from the same #. It was a man, and I explained to him that I had already told the lady the night before that I couldn't help. I even told him why and he still kept pushing. I tried calling the BBB but they had no info on the #. He said they don't really deal with charities. It felt like a scam, because as far as I know, 778 #'s are still just cell phones in bc. I could be wrong, but I've never had a charity call from that #. Try answering it next time and if you get the business name, call the CRTC at (604) 666-2111. That's what the bbb guy told me to do. Charities register with the crtc, so they could tell you if it is a scam or not. That was a couple weeks ago, and I haven't heard back from them. I'm tempted to try calling the #, but I haven't gotten the guts yet...lol Good Luck.
