Pam

The call is from "British Columbians for Prosperity", which is pretty much a bunch of cheerleaders for the oil companies that want to put in the pipeline.I wasn't paying too much attention to this stuff before, but thanks for the wake up call, now I'm going to support the anti-pipeline people just because they've never harrassed me with robo-dialer calls.I encourage everyone to crank call the "British Columbians for Prosperity" toll-free line with recorded messages of your own.Toll free phone: +1 866-663-5155Suggestions:- record their robo message and play it back to them over and over- Rickroll them over the phone, let's flood their voicemail!- If you get a live person, hang up on them just like robo-dialers do to us all the time.

They just called. Same thing. No one there but silence, even after a ten second wait

If you look at the website of BC for Prosperity, they are Northern Gateway supporters. Perhaps they are blocking only those they know NOT to be Enbridge supporters, and since we don't answer blocked numbers, it might end up looking like more people favor the Northern Pipeline than is really so.

I heard some heavy breathing and some funny squeaking noises like bed springs. Asked if I wanted some free candy. It may be a scam.

If you call the number back, they auto-identify themselves as a firm called GMI doing market research as "British Columbians for Prosperity", and give the contact info as:(604) 283-2282PO Box 37039Lonsdale, North Vancouver BCGMI is, I believe: http://www.gmi-mr.com/.and British Columbians for Prosperity is: http://www.bcprosperity.ca.They are a pipeline-advocacy organization. It certainly does explain why the calls are going to BC.These types of calls point to a weakness in our do-not-call legislation. Anybody can call you as long as they have some form of survey component to the call, even if the true purpose is issues-advocacy under a market-research mask. See https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/cofi-fico-eng.A reasonable way to deal with these: never EVER respond to any form of survey on the telephone. The more people who decline, the less useful the result of the survey. Once the non-response threshold passes a certain point, the survey is statistically useless. The way to stop these calls (barring better legislation) is to answer and to refuse to engage. Do not answer a single question. It's equivalent to "spoiling the ballot".

The message on my answering machine is simple, and it works: "don't you just love call display".Don't answer any calls you don't recognize and they will soon stop.
