Most likely, based on what Shelly said, they are located in Bombay, India. They try to get you to give them access to your computer. And, per last time I heard about this SCAM, then they shut down your computer and force a ransom payment to fix it. I dealt with a really obnoxious man who actually cussed at me when I told him on the 3rd or 4th call I had researched him and know it is a scam. He cussed  and yelled at me.

I just got a call from this number and they tried to tell me my microsoft account has been hacked by a lot of different hackers and they were going to help me get rid of the bad stuff.  This was a very weird conversation.  Wasn't sure whether to believe them or not.  I started to do what she asked me to do then she lead me to a foreign web site and wanted me to download something that I didn't know what it was.  So I hung up.  I did a search on the number that called and found this site and others saying it is not a valid number or company.  Don't listen to anyone who calls you from this number!!!!

I told him I did not have a P/C then he ask if I had a laptop I said No. lol That ended that

caller id said DIR ASSIST BCboiler room noise in the background

got a call from this number (778) 555-0161. My friend got this same call last week. They are scammers trying to get in your computer.The one that called my friend was very rude to her when she confronted him.I just hung up and put the number on my call block.
