I received a call from this number at 4:25 pm today. The recording said they were from Bell and I was awarded $3,000.00 travel rewards for being a long time customer.  I was to press 1.  I didn't and it hung up.

Got a call today from this number, saying something about a gift certificate for being a valued Zellers customer.

I got a call at 11:40am MST this morning.I looked at the area code and ignored it. No voicemail so I googled it.Glad I did not answer.

This number called me and a robo voice said "As a valued Roger's customer you are intitled to 3000 travel dollars. Press 1 to accept." I declined and hung up on the scamming bastards....

And how do you expect them to be able to do anything about it? They sure as s*** didn't give out your number as that is against the privacy laws. Most of these systems use autodialers that just sequentially call numbers until they get hits. The number is obviously a fake, and would be impossible for Telus, Bell, Fido, Rogers or any other company to block before you get the call. Unfortunately by the time one of these calls has been traced, the line is usually out of service, and wouldn't do any good to block that single number from the system. Look at the hits on this site, All within a 24hour period of these calls being sent out and then this number won't be calling again.The phone companies (Landline OR Cell) can't block people from calling you anymore than you can prevent a specific person from coming to your door before you even know they're coming.Easy answer is just what i do. Don't answer calls coming from numbers you don't recognise, especially when it's an area code you don't know. If it's important, they will leave you a message or call back. If it's a telemarketing/phishing scam then you won't ever hear from them again.

Got this call this morning at 9am.  It said who it was from, but I didn't catch it.  Could have been "Fido" who is my service provider, but I don't think so.  It then wanted me to press 1 to win.  I didn't push 1 and waited to see if it would repeat who it was from, but it just hung up.
