This is CBV for sure! No doubt. The law regarding collections states clearly these aholes collectors have no legal right to harass in such a manner. I had calls once 16 times in 2 days from both #'s listed on here and refuse to even  answer as I know what they are and what they want. I am not even the person they are looking for and I told them this 3 x. Everytime they get a newbie on the phones they put them to work to show their quota to their d***head boss showing them that they actually make calls to harass people. Some system when they say they remove you and they dont. I just ignore these dorks  now. Let them waste all that time chasing the wrong guy! lol.( I wonder what they actullay tell people they do for a living by the way) What a bunch of jokers! I just cant believe people do this crap for a living. I realize people have to do it but a more civil method must be available then this bs.

Annoyed

In my case (and apparently many others here) the call did not go into a queue, it just hangs up after repeating the 'important business matter' message 2-3 times. The system you helped set up is busted. Hopefully they fix that crap - I can't believe it's legal at all to make automated calls like this.FYI regarding the do-not-call list I don't think it will stop calls like this, since they are calling for bill collection, not sales.

I didn't answer the call - I assumed it was some sort of scam phone call.
I never answer callers whose numbers I don't know- I check the web first...

Wilf

They've been phoning my fax number several times a day all summer; however, because there is no caller ID the faxt doesn't go through. I've programmed my fax machine to not accept calls when there is no ID.

Former CBV IT Employee

Yeah, I used to work at CBV Collections as a System/Network Admin. That number was used by the Automatic dialler we used, which I helped setup. Law states that you can either block your number (which most people don't answer on), or you have to use a number that you own - but it doesn't necessarily have to be one that you use, or is connnected. As for why you'd get the 'Please stay on the line', it's because a certain amount of agents are allocated on the dialler, and if they're all on in a call, or otherwise occupied, the callee was placed into a queue.

Canaduck (again)

I finally waited on the line to talk to someone, and it was indeed a credit collection agency.  I politely explained that we'd had this number for 3 1/2 years and that the person they were looking for doesn't live here.  (This was last week.)

Since then I've received a call from them at least once a day, but when I pick up to remind them to leave me alone, I get automatically put on hold (like before), but then the line disconnects every time before I get routed to someone!
