They've been phoning my fax number several times a day all summer; however, because there is no caller ID the faxt doesn't go through. I've programmed my fax machine to not accept calls when there is no ID.

just got a call on my cell that is a private number.. strange"This is a call regarding an urgent business matter, please stay on the line.."Said something along the lines of that 3 times and then beeped twice, I think that is a busy signal..
 

Canaduck (again)

I finally waited on the line to talk to someone, and it was indeed a credit collection agency.  I politely explained that we'd had this number for 3 1/2 years and that the person they were looking for doesn't live here.  (This was last week.)

Since then I've received a call from them at least once a day, but when I pick up to remind them to leave me alone, I get automatically put on hold (like before), but then the line disconnects every time before I get routed to someone!

This is CBV for sure! No doubt. The law regarding collections states clearly these a**les collectors have no legal right to harass in such a manner. I had calls once 16 times in 2 days from both #'s listed on here and refuse to even  answer as I know what they are and what they want. I am not even the person they are looking for and I told them this 3 x. Everytime they get a newbie on the phones they put them to work to show their quota to their d****ead boss showing them that they actually make calls to harass people. Some system when they say they remove you and they dont. I just ignore these dorks  now. Let them waste all that time chasing the wrong guy! lol.( I wonder what they actullay tell people they do for a living by the way) What a bunch of jokers! I just cant believe people do this crap for a living. I realize people have to do it but a more civil method must be available then this bs.

These calls are referred to as "cold calls" in the collection industry and they are usually the last known number that is associated with the debtor to whom they are looking.  This Agency collects for all the major Banks, credit card company etc and they are EXTREMELLY aggressive!  They should identify themselves and advise you of the nature of their calls and when it's confirmed that the party to whom they seek is clearly not at this number - THEN they should POLITELY delete your number!  However, such is not the case, they appear to be quite vindictive regardless that you are not the person they seek and they then add your phone number to their "automated" computer list and it calls everyday with that stupid - We Have An Important Financial... blah, blah, blah-- message.  It's just plan harassment and Telus should be held accountable to clients that abuse the system with this unprofessional conduct.  They should be disconnected and black listed.
