My mom received a check in the mail for $4700.00 along with a letter stating to call before cashing/depositing the check. Naturally, we thought this must be some kind of scam...I decided to contact the bank the check was drawn off of, Baylake Bank in WI, they had informed me that the account # was not really and the check was a "counterfeit." Sorry to disappoint all the winners out there, but just think if you did try to use the check, you would be held accountable for $4700.00!
