Considering that they called me about a debt from 1998, for which the limitation period (six years) has long since expired, I would say this is a questionable company, at best.1. What the total debt amount is2. A detailed calculation as to how that debt was incurred3. A copy of the documented signatory evidence of my commitment to this obligation, with the complete contract4. Prove that you have the authority to collect the debt, with license numbers5. Prove they you are licensed to collect the debt6. A copy of any judgment if any7. Identify the original creditor.8. Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired.I also included the following: [quote]Please note that any unqualified action may result in legal consequences for which I will use all remedies available at law to protect myself. If you cannot verify the debt, you are obligated to clear my record AND inform all three credit bureaus to remove any delinquent or negative reports pertaining to said account.[end quote]Do your due diligence when it comes to knowing your rights as a consumer. If the limitation period has expired (two years for any debt incurred on or after 2002 -- or two years from the date you acknowledge the debt either in writing or by making a payment; and six years for any debt prior to 2002 .

This is a debt collection company who calls looking for my x - girlfriend daily. They have tons of #'s that they call from including +1 855-204-3008 and also +1 855-326-5195.They keep calling even though I have told them she doesn't live with me anymore, which is a true story. Additionally, I have never shared any type or form of credit with my x - girlfriend. I guess this company recorded my home # somehow. Very frustrating for me.As well, they continuously resort to deceptive lies on my voce mail, claiming that my x - girlfriend has won some sort of a prize or that there was a change on her Equifax report. Somebody should report this company for using outright deception to collect money, which is considered a crime in Canada. (Verifiable)

The simplest remedy:Step 1: Don't panic.Step 2: Ignore them when they call.Step 3: Repeat. As was said above, IF the debt is beyond the Statute of Limitations in your province of Canada, they no longer have legal claim to recovery, so they try the intimidation and harassment angle instead. They're entitled to do for a few more years, until the debt "expires" completely. Smile, realize you made some mistakes in the past that had repercussions (like racking up debt and not paying it off), and then exercise one of the following two options:Option 1: Offer them 5% of the amount they're trying to collect to clear your credit rating immediately, and request a crystal clear "Final Settlement Offer" be signed and faxed to you within 48 hours, and then pay it when it arrives, releasing you from the debt and these phone calls forever.Option 2: See the 3-step method above.Hope that helps. In the meantime, pick up a copy of the book "The Wolf At The Door," it changed my life when it comes to worry and anxiety about debt collection, and helped me to deal with my own situation head-on. And no, I'm not the author. Just a guy who read it, loved it, and feel the obligation to pass it on to others in a similar predicament.Amazon link: http://amzn.to/MU39i3
