Called to tell me they were from Microsoft and that my computer was sending error reports and they were attempting to help to fix the error. BS. This is a scam to hijack your computer.

Received a call at 3:14 PDT today from this number. They attempted to warn me about computer virus. I solicited information from them as follows both before and after asking to speak to a supervisor or manager. I got information from both the original caller and a supervisor.They represent a tech support company called Pronerds at the following web address https://www.pronerds.com/default.aspx  I was given a callback #1 281 385 8226 which coincides with the Pronerds number on their website. The initial technician who called as well as the supervisor attempted to tell me that via my Internet server they had found viruses on my machine. I then questioned them about whether it was a specific server or something to do with the DNS server my ISP uses. He didn't seem to know the difference. I then asked him if he was referring to routers as opposed to servers. He tried to tell me they are the same thing. They are not.He also tried to say that Chrome downloads (which relate not only to Google Chrome browser but function in a few other products) are infected with something called crapt file virus. I asked him to spell it and that is the spelling he gave me. I think he meant corrupt however, and what he meant was corrupt files. He then wanted me to go into my computer to look for this. I did not.I asked him how he knew this. I asked "So you have gone through my ISP's server's firewall, the firewall on my router and my software firewall and bypassed my intrusion detection software as well to retrieve this information?" He said "No it is based on what typical users do." I kept him on the phone for over half an hour. At least there wasn't a few other people he could bother during that time. I am reporting this to my ISP and telco (which are the same) as these people made it sound like some kind of emergency. They also mention that they are Microsoft certified technicians, which may be so but the way it is worded it sounds as if Microsoft sent them. They did not. I asked how he got my name and he was evasive. Something about Microsoft registered users. I think it was more likely out of the online phone listings and they are just taking random shots at cold calling. If you agree to whatever they want you to do they will take your credit card number and charge a minimum of 24.95 per hour for "fixing the virus" which likely doesn't even exist. I can see naive people buying this.

WE are receiving calls from this and other numbers , with a 647 area code, because we have used are details online.  Generally it is from having completed a survey or  wanted more information on how to earn money from home.Having provided information to these online websites gives them permission to call. The only way to stop them from calling is to change your number and leave it unlisted.

Me too, they told me we won a Disney trip. I told him I have never enter any of this draw. And I told him I am not interested at the prize, bye.And they still call back next day, and today! So irritating!

the same disney scam phone call... they called me like 500 times today!!! :( should i call the police?
