I had a message left on my answering machine. Yes, it's a scam.First clue was the bad english grammar and secondly, CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) can't legally leave that kind of info (lawsuit) on any recording device like they did with me. Thirdly, it should be a toll free number, not a 613 area code.FYI: The 1-888 # for CRA on the back of the tax returns/statements you get from them. Always use official numbers to call CRA. However, they are getting inundated with calls because of this scam so good luck trying to reach someone!

A message was left on my voicemail that CRA is filling a lawsuit ....BSCalled back and some one answered very unprofessionally with a long name...I asked what is this place and he replied CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) I laughed and said...Oh really ....The operator said,,,Are you kidding with me...CRA does not do this...Total Scam.

Threatened law Suite....Very Disturbing.Called this number no response. Very Poor Phone Static

I just called that number and told them if your working for the government prove it, you are scammers  My dad does my income tax , he is an accountant and there will be no mistakes on my taxes! No comment on the broken English spoking dude . He pretended he couldn't here me and the line cut off!

CRA has posted acknowledgement of these scams and has also posted their procedures for contacting someone if a problem exists regarding someone's personal income tax status. This is NEVER done by phone initially and is never approached in a threatening manner.  Apparantly CRA approaches by mail or email initially as outlined on their site regarding this ongoing scam. Like a previous comment suggests. Listen to the telltale signs such as poor impossible to understand English. Mispronunciation of common words such as town names and provinces.  Google CRA scams and you will see just how common these calls and CRA's info.
