ok so like everyone else this number (613) 667-9148 has been calling me. So I too called it and got the recording it is the Conservative Party of Canada. To those who post it is the other parties trying to make Canadians mad I don't buy it. as if it's not the CP it would be easy for whomever does have that assigned number to be tracked and thusly charged. I called the C.R.T.C. and this is what I found out.The Do Not Call List in Canada does NOT apply to Politicians, News Papers and Charities. There is an old law that is suppose to govern those exempt (those mentioned above) from the standard Telemarketing rules it's called Unsolicited Telecommunication Rules. However apparently it is the telephone companies that are tasked with inforcing it and the guy at the C.R.T.C. says the phone companies can't be bothered because of expense. Now I suspect that was back in the day when there was no competition it might be different now if we all contact our various phone providers. Lets band together and be proactive in making those responsible of inforcement do their job. I also contacted the Conservative Party MP and the other party MP's in my riding. Make them earn their money too. If it is NOT the Conservatives they certainly will act if it is the Conservatives then the other parties will act. So move from complaining to being proactive. If they hear from only one they will likely do nothing if they hear from many they have no choice but to act after all we are their bosses and we can vote them out. Find your Conservative MP on Twitter or other social media and let them know your not happy. Oh we have so many resources now adays.

They do have to obey the law;  if you answer and tell them to take you off their list, they have to do so within 30 days.The only "favouritism" they have is they are allowed to use your number from the do not call list to call you, but if they continue to call after 30 days of being told to remove you from their calling list, you can report them to the CRTC and they can be fined.
