Started again once so far since January 1st, 2008

An addendum to my above posting for others to heed just in case.
Here is how the ad reads as from the posting on Craigslist in Vancouver BC. I have flagged the posting as spam and suppose that it will be removed soon enough, but I suspect it'll pop up again somewhere as scammers tend to be rather tenacious...

This number appears on our call display whenever anyone from the US calls us.  It seems that Telus caller i.d. isn't capable of letting us know what the actual number is....so it displays this one.That is exactly what it is..a port number of somesort.

this is a collection company called NCO financial they call me 6-10 times a day they finally left a message today with a number to call back at 1-+1 888-882-9241 they have been harassing me at all hours of the day and night and for what you ask????? a $15.23 bill from fed ex I didnt even know I owed they are very rude and ruthless!!!

They are not a collection agency! Look at other sites on Google to read about the assortment of comments on this number. Whoever is using this number is using a wide variety of (often aggressive) tactics to fish for any kind of personal identifying information. They seem to resort to all kinds of tactics to grab people's attention and information. I think it's for identity theft purposes. We have receive calls from this number for a few years. The other day I receive a call from them on my cell phone.

Glad that I found this website, as I had just sent a response to same ad for house on 33rd Ave, Vancouver, BC. Very sketchy response from "Maria". Decided to google "techemail" and "Andreas Makiewicz" and lo and behold, this website was the first hit. Below, is the message "Maria" sent to me (for other's reference).
