My 97 year old mother also received this letter.  She was so excited, but fortunately called me to report her "winnings"  Thanks for your input..I knew it was a Scam.  Our letter had another phone # in BC (604) 377-9156 but basically the same information.  Very upsetting that someone would be preying on the elderly.

Got the letter too, same stuff but check is drawn on Rock White Com in Minn. Claim Agent is Allen Johnson (604) 652-4251. Bank is First Bank Havre MT. Check shows the address is for US Bank there.. SCAM not going to call them. We are in Oregon.

Yes unfortunately this IS a scam. My elderly father received this also but luckily showed it to me first.Even before I opened it I knew it wasn't right. The envelope had no return address on it and the stamp was from Ireland. My father did not enter any( international ) lottery/sweeptakes.Also a legitimate sweepstakes would not ask you to send them money.(Proccesing fee-Really ?)The agent's phone # is Canadian and is most likely an untraceable cell phone. The scam is to have you deposit the bogus check that they send you,and then later withdraw funds from your bank account and do a money transfer through Western Union .So now the crooks have your money and you are stuck with a counterfeit check and now you will need to pay back the funds to the bank. This is a horrible scam and I feel sorry for those people that fall for it .

Hi Jane, my name is Lisa, my Dad just got the same letter as you did, yes , on top of the letter does it read this,,,  CoastCaptal Financial Services   if it does, do not beleave it, his letter also said  he won 2nd place,, and in there was a check for $ 4.685.00   and $ 3.90.00 is to cover the
processing Fee then they would send him the rest of the check  $ 245,000.00   the only thing is the Manager on his letter says Paul Morgan.  now if you do not know this, it's really spelled like this
J.P Morgan,, of  the J.P Morgan Chase Banks, he just dropped the J..  but it's him alright
On your check that $ 43,950.00  might be a miss type, , yes someone who made out that check to you, was to type in $ 4,685.00 Not $ 4685.00    and the fee is really for $ $ 3,950.00   ok,
in other words, just mail that check back to them.. in other more words this is a first rate SCAM....
