Called today, asked something, I did not even understand, noise in the background..

ya i got a call from this number and she kept asking me if i knew mandarin in mandarin. I only understood that part so i kept asking her if she knew english. called me twice already so annoying

Yup, "(604) 629-2009" has hot me too (as of Sept 22.07).  If I follow people's comments rightly, there's practically nothing you can do about the criminals doing this. . . arg.frustrated

Got a call at 4:30am this morning from (604) 629-2009. Thought there was a emergency but it turned out to be a damn fax machine.

I think both of my new numbers used to be fax machines. It's going to take a long time to get off all of those lists.

Well it could've been a calling card.
My friend called me from out of town and I didn't answer at first.  They then tried again and I finally picked up--turned out it wasn't a telemarketer. Surprise.

Dude! It is a calling card server! It means that somebody called you from anywhere in the world using a calling card which connects throught his number! I am not sure Skype on online calling service providers use this or not but regular ones use it! Cheers up! Alex G
