Canadian - probably a scam

Caller said every time I sign on my computer I am sending all my personal info out to the internet. Ha!

They called me regarding my Microsoft Windows Computer and told me my PC had malware.  I interrupted him and asked him for the windows logs.  He then didn't answer and insisted there was an issue, and continued with his script that my pc would get slower and slower, etc.  So then I asked him for my Machine name.  He stumbled a bit and said they know by the product key (complete lie).  I then let him know I am a Systems Engineer and before I could tell him that there is no problem, he hung up.Just ask specific questions such as, Machine name, IP address, Which version and build of Windows, etc.  They will not be able to provide any of this information, so try to keep them on the phone as long as you can so they can't hang up and call your innocent grandma who probably will not know this is a scam.

He Sao he was from Microsoft and when I told him he was lying he shouted profanities at me

I didn't recognize the number and caller ID said "Out of Area" so, of course, I didn't answer. No message was left.

What a jerk. He told me he was from Microsoft. I hate these calls! How do we stop them from calling?
