They called my cell phone at work. I did not answer, if they try to get you to do these things, please call the police and report them. When I google their phone number it belongs to CiK telecom of Windsor according to the yellow pages...

I just got the call but fortunately I told my family to never answer the phone if they don't recognize the number. I also said if I or anyone else should call from a number we don't recognize and it's important, they will leave a message. These scammers and telemarketers never leave messages. There's the difference.

yes this person called my house as well.Unfortuantly my family fell for it and I was at a total Shock when I had heard what happens. The best thing to do is inform everyone you care about of what can happen and learn from your mistakes. I found this fourm and am glad people work together to fight the ones who work so hard against us.For me, I have turned off the computer, and I will peform a system restore to the week before this all happened, I hope that solves it, this was advise given to my family after they reached out to the Police to inform them on this scam.

They called and asked me to turn on my computer, said they were tech support and there was an error. Asked me to press the windows and R keys at the same time to "Search" for the error. Pressing those buttons together is to RUN programs on your computer if you input their name. She told me to input eventwr and run it. There was no way I was doing that so I asked her what her company name was [as it was never specified] and she told me then asked me again to type it in and hit ok. She continued to talk over my questions forcefully telling me to do what she said, as she struggled to come up with different ways to say "I don't know" when I asked her how they received the error notice [the internet?] from which internet service provider?, What my ip address was if she got it from the internet?, what the first and last name of the person the ip address or internet service was registered to? etc. She got so angry with me for interrupting her demands that I continue with whatever it is she wanted me to do to that she asked me if I was the decision maker in the house! Funny! Didn't seem to matter before! I told her I was only 16 [10 years younger than I really am] and that I wasn't doing a DAMN thing until my parents got home. So she asked me for my mother's number to call her. I asked her why, since she wasn't home, and not near our computer to do whatever idiotic thing she was asking of me, and she said to just give it to her. I gave her a bogus number and she said thanks have a nice day, and I asked if she even wanted my mother's name so she knew who she was speaking with. Oh yes yes, please! TOTAL SCAM. They don't care who they are talking to, as long as you do whatever they're trying to get you to do. They couldn't answer any identifying questions about where I was located, what my computer ip address was, who our internet provider was, or what my effing name is. SCAM SCAM SCAM.
