Got a $2,000 check in the mail stating that i can use it for a job... need to know if this is real

The cheque will be fake, your bank may "clear it" only for it to bounce later when they do the real clearance process. The scam works by getting you to wire money back, so 1. your out of money from the wire process, 2. your out of money by bank fees for depositing a fake cheque and 3. in some countries/states you cop legal harrassment by the law enforcement agencies, some countries/states treat you the victim as the criminal
