AMAZING!! Thanks everyone! Same here with a twist.  Didn't believe it but thought I did nothing wrong so why not deposit the thing.  Figured if it was bad i would be told and that would be that. The teller took the check...i asked when could i draw on the funds...the teller told me now....stunned....i asked no questions and drew! Walking out the bank with $4975.00!  The closer i got to the door the more i thought 'im not sending them anything' the more i thought that, the more my heart raced! I stopped 10feet from the door..stared at my car through the door, in the lot....finally, realized this is impossible and spoke to a representative just to be sure.  A police report and 3 days later the bank sent me $50 bucks for the honesty.  Yeah, i know, but im sure i would have paid some how.

We got a similar letter from MLB Advance Media LP Center and a check for $2958.18 as a winner of an unnamed retail store sweepstakes.  They are asking me to call them after going to Walmart and wiring $1001 by Moneygram, then calling them to verify I am the person who's name is on their check, which by the way, looks very real.  Then they would wire me the balance of our winnings.  The check would fool quite a few people and they work on the assumption that if they send out a thousand of these letters and even only 1% reply, they will make a quick $50,000.  The phone number given had a 416 area code from Ontario, Canada.  I would like to figure out a way to beat them at their own game, somehow playing on their greed.  By the way, there were quite a few grammatical errors and the letter head was printed using a laser printer, which was another error on their part.  Also, the case number and winning sweepstake numbers didn't coincide with the numbers on the check.  I think these guys have the same amateur playbook as the Nigerian email scammers.  Not quite good enough to be really convincing.  They need to go back to jail and take some more free college writing courses.

Got a letter and check for $4975.00 also with the samesweepstake winning scam. Same number and address. Want me to send $2,950.00 for taxes on the winnings of $250,000. I figure the taxes would be at least 15% to 20% so the math don't come out right. SCAM.
