Received a call from 1-(416) 777-7777 saying they were Canadien Customs awaiting a 10% duty for an international lottery. They sound very legitimate and my elederly mother almost fell for it. These are bad people who target people concerned with their financial future.

Scammer conned a local woman out of $8,200 over a three day period while she was waiting for her $250,000 Prize from a Contest she did not remember. Using Western Union for payment and caller ID shows the (416) 777-7777 number. They are spoofing the number through technology that is currently available to hide real phone numbers. They want to make sure the victim "tells nobody" about it for their protection. Thankfully, the Bank caught on because of the withdrawals.  Wilmington Mass. 10-2-08
