Got a call this Thursday morning Aug 23/12 and said to call in regards to file # xxx
They tried to tell me that i owed money to xxx but I had never dealt with that company and found out later he had the wrong person when he called me

Started receiving calls from 6 different number. They don't speak when you answer. I have no debts, owe no money or have never had my name put into a collection agency. Funny thing is, I started getting extra calls when i put my number on a do not call list... Interesting.. whos selling phone lists.

I am sick and tired of telling this company that I DO NOT KNOW
FERNANDEZ. It costs me to use my cell phone and I am harassed at least
three times per week. I've been promised that my number would be removed
but nothing.

First collection agencies will find anyway to contact you - call friends, family and other employees at work. If you are getting calls for someone who does not live there they are probably looking for someone else. Also by law, if you are receiving harrassing collection calls, you have the right to inform them to contact you by mail only and they are obligated to take you off the list of phone calls and use mail contact only. Remember collection agents work on commission - they will use any tactic to break you down. If they collect any from you they get paid - so some tips - never give out any information, tell them to mail it to you and take you off the list. Always ask to speak to a supervisor or manager, if you must speak with an agent tell them how sorry you feel for them they have to do this jog - give a little back to them - believe me they haven't learned yelling and threatening people doesn't make you want to deal with them. There are also laws about them garnishing wages and accessing money like mortages and stocks, so find out what they are. Don't let them get the upper hand. If you don't give out your name they can't give out information, don't confirm who you are. Lastly - there is no law if you owe money that you can't pay the debt directly to the company you owe - it might be in closed accounts, but they cannot refuse payment. They still might have to pay the collection agency as it's usually as follows of what collection agencies take - under $100 ALL - $100 to $1000 - 25% and so on. Of course if you are having problems with credit find a credit counsellor and that will also stop calls.

For everyone getting this number calling them it is annoying.  Call CBV Collections and ask for Richard McDonald or Scott Mcillroy they are managers and they can straighten it out.  If this fails call Consume rProtection Agency and file a complaint at The ministry of Government and Consumer Services, Consumer Protection Branch,5775 Younge st, suite 1500,Toronto m7a 2e5, (416) 326-8800 or 1 +1 800-889-9768.  If you speak with any rude people at CBV get their name and add that to your complaint.  When I spoke with Richard McDonald and explained that I was getting calls for a person that doesnt have this number any more and the behaviour of the orginal person I spoke with that was very rude he was quick to help and only wished I had the name of who I spoke with so he could have dealt with that as well.  Best of luck.

Also, calls on a Sunday after 5pm are against the law.
I work at a car dealership and they are calling me all the time! Not saying anything though. I'm gonna have a work with whoever is incharge
