here's a weird one. i got a call from this number this morning while i was still asleep. there was a message when, so before i check the message i look to see what number is on my call display. it's (416) 555-7777. i don't recognize it, so i google it, and find this page. so i'm thinking, the message is going to be some indian guy trying to scam me--- it wasn't---- it was my mom....?????

I just received the call from (416) 555-7777 but I didn't answer and no one left a message. I will see if they call back, and, if so, give them a piece of my mind. Are they just scammers or what?

I am on the do not call list and I keep getting a call from the number.  It is on my cell phone which is a private number and I do not give it out to anyone so I have no idea how they got my number.  When I answer it there is no one there.

This guy sounded like he had an Indian accent.  Claimed he was from "The Debt Company". When I remarked that that was a very vague name he said, "I know sir, the company's name is confusing but that is the name of the company." I then allowed him to do his bit for a while and he mentioned that "his company was in the area doing a survey of mortgage payments" and he had noticed that we had made our last couple of months worth of payments on time and that he had an offer to improve our interest rate.  I knew when I picked up the phone that it was a scammer and I love playing with these jokers.  I informed him that I was on the National Do Not Call List and to take me off the list.  He asked me why. We argued for a bit and then I asked him for a manager and he said that he was the manager (how convenient). I then asked for his phone number. The one he probably pulled off of the list was a 416 exchange. I then asked for the company name.  He had trouble remembering that and eventually came up with "The Debt Company"  I asked for his name, "My name?" he said "My name is uh... Gary"  I followed with "And your last name is.." "Uhm... uh Nelson"  A traditional Indian name I suspect.  I asked him where he lived and he said BC then started to wonder why I was asking so many questions.  I then told him about the National Do Not Call List and that I needed this information so that I could file a proper complaint with the CRTC (Canadian FCC) for violation of the NDNC list. He said he wasn't in violation. I asked if he was a charity or if we had done business together before.  He said yes.  I asked which one; charity or business he replied with "I don't understand". I then asked if he was a telemarketer. He said yes. I read him the telemarketers requirements from the web page and then repeated. Are you a telemarketer. He said yes. I asked if he had a copy of the numbers on the DoNot Call list.  He said no then changed his mind and claimed that he was not a telemarketer.  I proceeded to argue with him for a while longer until he finally gave up and hung up. i got a call from 1 (416) 555-7777 at 4 in the morning but i answered it not knowing what time it was and a guy with a heavy acsent mabey chinese and he was jsut yelling random stuff i hung up and he called back like a min later and did the same thing i hung up again the area code is from toronto the next day at about 9 at night he called again from an unknown number so i dont know if its a hacker or a scamer or what but im blocking the number from my phone

My family live in another country and they use phone cards to call me. This is the number usually displayed when they call me!
