It is a SCAM. Says she is calling from Windows technical department and claims my computer is sending them error messages and that she will talk me through the process on my computer to fix it. When I asked how a Mac could be sending Windows error messages, she hung up on me.

Just got a missed call from them. Tried calling back and got..... "Number doesn't exist."

I received a call from this number at 7:58pm EST July 23, 2012. I believe the person's name is Peter Stazione. Possibly a Skype number? Harassment. Needs to be looked into.

What many people naively do not realize is that it is very easy now to block, mask, and fake phone numbers for caller ID.

Companies can assign their outgoing lines numbers which are fictional or which belong to pay phones or to other companies or individuals.

Since de-regulation of the phone system, no company can or will take responsibility for removing phone privileges from customers who perpetrate frauds and make nuisance calls (why? because they want the revenues!). It has also become very, very difficult for law enforcement to trace, track, shut down, arrest and charge the individuals pulling this s***.

By falling for the robber-barons' total myth of "free-market" de-regulation of an essential service, Canadians have given free-reign to these criminal fraudsters and scammers. This country needs to enact new laws enabling and enforcing phone companies to cut, cancel and shut down telephone users engaging in these practices and confiscate their equipment. The technology certainly exists, but the will to vote in legislators who will actually act in our interests? Good question. Only YOUR vote will help.
