Called my cell around 4pm...computer-generated voice stated I have been selected to win 2500 air miles..press 1 to accept. I hung up. Coincidentally, this webpage has an ad for an AMEX Air miles credit card...

Caller ID showed (403) 912-8989 called me at 6:33 PM July 3. No message left. When you call the number back it says it's not in service.

Missed a call to my cell, glad now that I did. I usually try to talk to them if I do pick up because that's the only way to get your number removed if they're operating "quasi-legally" as someone else suggested.

Alex, how do we qualify if we have nothing to add? I'm assuming your not a moderator and just a telephone expert. I'm not sure why you commented and repeated everything people have already said. Thanks for the laugh.

OkSo I think this is what the deal is...This is now the 13+ phone call and normally I just don't answer. So the first person says Global Group Travel then they transfer you to the http://karismahotels.com.Where they go on for hour about how great a deal they have. This second call center would not tell me who forwarded me.They asked for my credit card and I told them who would be stupid enough to release a credit card to some guy I have no idea who is calling. Then he goes on and on about my credit card would protect me. But I respond with how can they protect me from you selling my number to 100 people that make fakes and try to purchase 100 different items...At the point I hung up because it was waste of breath. So next time they call, you have to get the details from this so called "Global Group Travel" once they forward you its pointless. Not sure if anyone has some good advice how we might get some further info about of them.As posted above:They called themselves "Global Group Travel", but as soon as I asked them to confirm this, they hung up. It's obvious they know they'd be charged with a $10,000 fine for calling while on the DNC list.I've not bothered to check, but I'm sure you'd find that no such company exists. They will likely be a numbered entity. Their number is owned by Bell, and for the person asking why you can't call them back, it's because they've chosen to let you see "(403) 912-8989" but that's not the number associated with the SIP they're using to dial you from. They're using IP telephony, and it does make it more difficult to figure out who they are and how to get them charged. Anyway, obvious scam
