I said, "Hell yes!" to whether I wanted the money, and got an agent on the line. When he came on he quickly tried to go through his shpeel but described the company as "VBN"... "VBN? Wassat?" I asked... "Vacations By Newport" in MIAMI.

Called my cell around 4pm...computer-generated voice stated I have been selected to win 2500 air miles..press 1 to accept. I hung up. Coincidentally, this webpage has an ad for an AMEX Air miles credit card...

I just received a call from Global Group Travel.. same type of message as above comments with the recording etc... This time it said I was selected to win $999 towards a trip based on a recent trip I took with Air Canada. After answering a qualifying question they passed to me to a third person that asked for my name. I told her I would like to learn more before disclosing my name and she hung up. This is an obvious scam so posting to just keep consumers aware and alert. The number was (416) 917-8100.

Got a call from this number saying I was selected to win 5000 air miles. So annoying

They called themselves "Global Group Travel", but as soon as I asked them to confirm this, they hung up. It's obvious they know they'd be charged with a $10,000 fine for calling while on the DNC list.I've not bothered to check, but I'm sure you'd find that no such company exists. They will likely be a numbered entity. Their number is owned by Bell, and for the person asking why you can't call them back, it's because they've chosen to let you see "(403) 912-8989" but that's not the number associated with the SIP they're using to dial you from. They're using IP telephony, and it does make it more difficult to figure out who they are and how to get them charged. Anyway, obvious scam.
