If you get this call but haven't answered or voicemail (yours) kicked in OR you see it on your caller ID, you can try calling it back and won't incur any charges whatsoever because you'll get an operator's voice advising your call cannot be completed hence no charge, no minutes used etc. I seldom get these anymore considering I use Rogers for cell, Vonage for land line but I do call them when I get them at random times. I'm on the Government Do Not Call List but unfortunately it doesn't eliminate all calls-some like the local newspaper or Governments, Charities, Survey/polls etc. can and do call but if you inform them to stop, they will honour this. Also, even IF you are listed in the local phone book, you can also go to whitepages.ca and request your number be removed. That place is updated each year when the phone books come out but just do that at whitepages each year then. My example of how easy it is-IF I knew "your" number, I could visit their site right now, enter your full # and have it removed. Nobody would dispute it and it would be off for a whole year or maybe forever. Other ways to find your number if in fact you do list yours in a local directory but I've nailed 9 or 10 relative's numbers via whitepages and a lot of these types of calls are no longer coming today. Depends which cell provider you use but you can also speak to Customer Service if your cell has been tagged because those are actually a no-no even if some of the more dishonest companies are picking them randomly through the sequence of numbers. Has never happened on any of our Rogers lines and we have 5 of them; we'd know if any calls were received because of our call logs. Best of luck to you but don't worry, they can't do anything with just a phone number to begin with, sooner or later you'll eventually get some annoying losers like that and if you do happen to answer, make some noises (LOUD), tell them you'll be right back and put on hold or just give them bogus info and the employee will submit that info which turns out to be worthless (and they'll move on anyway...) Lastly and a p.s. all those places you shop at or visit, be careful. Places where you can just give your ph. number to gain points for shopping etc.? Some of them share your number(s) but I've told all of my relevant places, DON'T EVER think of selling or providing these to others without my consent or the offending store will be off my list for shopping. Does happen this way, everyone seems to think we all wanna be bugged and have all the time in the world it seems. Also, don't give your postal code for any stores asking for it so they can't add to their demographic surveys. Walmart's bad for this and I tell nobody anything now! LOL Ciao all, good luck
