We just got the call also at 10:00 am.  If this is a scam, man are they informed...  We have a Canadian Tire Mastercard and he gave me the first 8 digits...but then I asked him who the card belonged to, he gave me the name of the person who had my phone number before me for which I often get calls for the same name so that's why I hung up...  ooooff! He told me that he already had all our information in his computer, well I showed him...lol.  I hate giving out information on the phone but I did it once and it was true I got a lower interest rate on a new card from a different company.  Now that I think of it I could of been scammed back then.... ah well!  This time I must admit it didn't smell too good.

Just got a call from a gal with a real heavy accent claiming they were working under "Government of Canada" and could lower my credit card interest rate.  She claimed to have all my personal information in front of her but couldn't give me my mailing address.  Then she asked for the expiry date of my Visa - when I told her I didn't have a Visa she said "oh..I mean MasterCard"...I told her if she had all my information she would have that, I wasn't giving it to her and was reporting her to MasterCard and hung up.  When I called MasterCard they said it was a pshishing scam that is quite common during the holiday season.She was pretty quick to give me all her information - her phone number, company Credit Card Consumer Advocacy and her name, Maria.

BEWARE of this #, they also call from = (647) 288-1289

wanted to know what credit card etc when I ask to be taken off their mailing list, he hung up!!!

Called me at 12:34 PM today to a 780 area code number that

The next time they call - this is what I do to these losers - answer the phone and gently leave it off the hook untill the line beeps.
So you guys - it's not VISA that is selling your phone number.
